Full/Double 2-Inch Thick 5-Pound Density Visco Elastic Memory Foam Mattress Pad Bed Topper

I have tried every imaginable density and thickness of memory foam topper on the market. I had become a deranged Goldilocks. Too soft, too thin, too thick...Ugh. I thought I'd found it when I bought this same topper but (also 5 lb density) with thickness of 3". And while it was very comfortable to lie on/in, it was kind of hard to push myself out of bed, or sit on the bed to put on shoes etc. just too thick - once u sink into it, you're kinda "stuck". And my dogs had a heck of a time walking around on the bed. So, I figured, one last shot - 5 lb density was unquestionably the only density I would consider again (and the only density ANYONE should ever consider), so I went to the 2" thickness. And voila. Perfection. Plus easier to find sheets that fit! I'm in memory foam heaven. Worth the wait. :-)Update (2 mos after purchase): FYI, if you do the math (which I just did, long after receipt of the product), st 22.9 lbs snd 58x78x2", this topper is only 4.37 lb/ft3 density. Not happy, but I've done the same math for lots and lots of toppers (Amazon and ofherwise) advertised to be 5.0-5.3 lb density, and 9 times out of 10, it's a fib. Very frustrating.Update (7 mos after purchase): As it turns out the 4.37 lb/ft3 density (mentioned in update above) reveals itself after only 7 mos. Topper has lost its "rebound" and flattened out so much that it hangs over my mattress on all sides. BTW I am a single woman who weighs 150 lbs. Sadly, I had to replace it already. THIS time, I have already alerted the new seller (of different product) that IF (after weighing the topper *upon receipt* this time) it isn't TRULY 5.0 lb density (meaning it weighs at LEAST 28 lbs), they will have to pick it up and ship it back at their expense. Fingers crossed :-)

I bought this topper because my mattress was causing me pain in my hips. I'm a side sleeper and I would wake up in the middle of the night with burning hip pain and flip to my other side only to wake up an hour later and repeat the process. I'm not in a financial position to buy a new mattress right now, so I bought this to buy some time. I really hate the feel of memory foam. To me, it's like sleeping in quicksand. (My cat must hate it too because he stopped sleeping with me.) That said, this is a great topper. If you like memory foam, you will love this. It has solved my hip pain issue. I look forward to when I can buy a new pillow top mattress and get away from the memory foam, but this topper will definitely get me by until I can afford it. I deducted one star because I had to cut this down to fit my full size mattress. I bought the full size topper, but it was about 9" too long. Not a big deal, but that makes it less than perfect.

The is a very good quality memory foam. We have had a variety of memory foam beds like tempurpedic, etc. We have tried various types of mattress toppers, as well.It is quite firm. It is important with this mattress topper, as with any memory foam bed, to use the right sort of mattress protector. If you use a regular mattress pad, it will not be as comfortable. It interferes with the foam responsiveness and makes the foam feel hard. If you have a foam bed that is too soft, maybe you would want to add the mattress pad, but otherwise it is not a good thing to do. There are a number of mattress protectors that are specifically for memory foam beds, so this is what we used.The problem we have with it is that it still has an odor after all this time. We've tried airing it out and it certainly smells less than it did originally, but if you are sensitive to odor it is not a good purchase. Too bad, because it has a nice feel.

I wanted to get a Casper mattress but I was on a budget, so I looked up what their mattress was made of so I could recreate my own.Casper's mattress is made up of three layers:• 1.5" Latex Foam (top)• 1.5" Memory Foam (middle)• 7.0" Support Foam (bottom)From this information, I reconfigured specifications to suit my needs. I already own a 6" futon mattress which would work as the support base layer; now I needed the two other layers. I decided on this 2-inch/ 5-pound density memory foam mattress topper, along with the  Pure Green 100% Natural Latex - Medium Firmness - 2" Queen Mattress Topper . From the reviews of Casper mattresses, it was slightly too soft with its 3" layers of top foams, so I went with a 4" total for my specs (2" Memory and 2" Latex Foam).This is a visco elastic memory foam, which means it's resistant to bacteria, mildew, mold, mites, making it great for those with sensitivities or allergies. Visco elastic foam is also good at reducing motion transfer, so if you share a bed with someone, this is for you. I chose the 5-pound density because Casper's (1.5-inch foam) is 4-pounds according to mattress reviewers, and according to customer reviews, it could be slightly more supportive, hence I spent the extra money on a 2-inch/ 5-pound foam, which would make it similar.— SMELL —The topper comes wrapped in a protective plastic, which has been compressed into a "tiny" heavy box. Once taken out it expands quickly. I opened this memory foam, and my latex foam at the same time, so they could be aired out together. I had this opened next to my living room couch, so while I was watching TV I did notice a slight memory foam smell, which is to be expected from sitting right next to it for some time. The instructions say to air it out for 96 hours. A couple of dryer sheets added on top, along with having an air purifier running straight for three days and the smell was almost gone by then so I didn't have to wait long.— SET UP —By the end of the three-day airing out it was time to put it all together. My futon mattress was on a frame, I put this memory foam on top next, and then I put the latex foam on last. I enclosed all three in  Hospitology's Waterproof/ Bed Bug Proof - Queen - 9" Low Profile  mattress cover and it fit like a glove. I topped it off with a couple layers of bedding sheets and was done. I bought two Casper pillows and pillow cases to add to my bed's four other pillows. I now have a Casper-like mattress for half the cost.— COMFORT —This memory foam layer makes a good supportive middle layer. Now I sleep way too well that I hardly notice my three alarm clocks. In my opinion, a restful sleep is priceless. Recommended.
