I have a 40 inch chest and 39 inch waist, what size should i go for if the chart is innacurate?

My son is a 36 chest and 30 waist and ordered small but obviously I needed to take it in especially since he wanted it a snug fit but personally I thought it was a bit big for a size small if they had done xs I would have got that because it was a nighmare to alter and I'm an experienced machinist . The adjustable straps at the back pull in quite a bit . I suppose it depends on how you want it to fit. for the measurements you've started and looking at the chart if I was buying it for your size I would say medium to be on the safe side as you can pull it tighter at the back , but at the end of the day it's your choice . It is a lovely waistcoat we got it in the wine colour

I have 46inch chest and 38waist, what size should i get as some reviews say the sizing doesnt match the size chart?

I got a medium and a 40 inch chest and 34 waist and it was to small so I would say xL , nice material but no pockets.
