Q: has anyone tried using different refills? I feel like the m63 refill is not very smooth.

The way this pen is designed it will take just about any gel refill. If the refill is too short wrap tape around the end to make it longer or stuff some paper in the barrel to take up some of the space.

Q: Are there fine point refills?

No lamy delivers only with M cartridge all roller balls are delivered from lamy with M
