Q: Has anyone tried this in a home audio system? Was it successful? Were there any compatibility and distortion problems?

I am currently using it in my home theater system.

Q: Does anyone know exact dimensions of this unit? Not in packaging

as wide as regular DIN stereo 1" tall and close to 6" deep front to back

Q: Are the lights bright at night?

I would not place it facing you , yes , not VERY bright but bright enough to be annoying, , the orange lighting was my reason for this unit since blue lights disturb my vision , It is best to mount this unit out of line-of sight IMO , Mine is under my seat- but doesn't light up everything in front of it

Q: When Fader is all the way to the left there is no sound at all

Check your inputs, if left input has no cable that equals no sound.
