The insight you should know
•doesn’t have an overwhelmingly loud noise when in-use•has two power options to choose between, the 12v car port or 120v 3-prong plug.•recommends to run your car engine if using it via the 12-volt port for best results that way.!Does point out that you should give the pump a 10-minute break after 3-minutes of continuous use so as to not overheat it too much. otherwise it handles most applications with little to no issues.+the Auto psi shutoff feature is an awesome feature to have•psi accuracy is within +/- 2psi, Max load being 100psi, ideally, I wouldn't go any higher than 85-90psi just to be on the safe side.•very solid unit for the price•airflow is fairly fast at low psi, takes a bit longer around 35 and higher but moves along. It’s better than anything I’ve had before this.

Well made, heavy duty pump, worth spending the money !
We had this same pump for a number of years, and when it finally gave out, it was replaced by a cheaper pump; it wasn’t ac/dc, had no storage for the cords or adapters, and cheaply made. That’s when we realized just how well made this pump is compared to others. We love that it self stores the adaptors, cords and cables, and that it is ac/dc. We can use it at the car for car and bike tires, or pump up pool floats on the deck. We use it often during the warmer months and need a reliable pump. With the handles it’s easy to pick up. It’s more expensive than many others but well worth it !

Finally, A Well Designed Portable Air Compressor
Whoever design this thing was one smart cookie. Yea, it looks strange, because function was the primary design criteria. Making it look "pretty" was not part of the equation. The results are a portable air compressor that is a pleasure to use. It has storage compartments built-in to the unit so you don't have to go searching for that basketball adaptor, it's right there. The X-design makes this unit stable on all four sides, so when you need to pull out the inflation hose, you just flip the unit over so that the little door covering the inflation hose is on top. Time to plug it into the car's cigarette ligher? Just flip the unit over so that the little door covering that power cord is on top. Want to use 120V AC instead, well the power cord for that is securely stored on the back. The digital readout and the auto-shutoff are a major bonus. The only thing I can't comment on is how long this thing will last. In my experience, portable air compressors don't seem to last more than two or three years. Hopefully, this one was built to last a long time. Only time will tell. If it dies in less than four years, I'll post an update.

quality tools are hard to find
Bought this back in the summer and have used it a handful of times, and it has worked well. I always seem to have a low tire, and I go through the little cheap ones. Pulled it out on this very cold morning and the little metal pin inside the locking air chuck, broke as I was pulling the hose out of its storage compartment. I don't even know how that happened! Upon looking, it is all plastic inside. Now I must figure out how to replace this part in order to not have completely wasted nearly $90.

Save Yourself the Stress, Look Elsewhere
Purchasing this compressor has been the single most difficult Amazon order I've ever had. It was purchased on April 12th, used twice, and completely died by May 21st. The only thing worse than having a new item fail within weeks of purchase was that the return was even more frustrating. May 21st is just past Amazon's 30-day return window. However, per Amazon's website, if a manufacturer's warranty covers the item, Amazon will honor it. The Kobalt compressor has a 1-year warranty. I first attempted to initiate a return via the Amazon app. Nope! The return window had closed. I then phoned customer service. Agent #1 saw the issue and agreed to a refund. Great! I ask him for a QR code to send the compressor back. He said no, since it no longer worked, I could keep it. Thankfully, I didn't toss the compressor out then, because a month later, the refund hadn't appeared. In early July, I called customer service again to explain the situation. Agent #2 said they'll make a "one-time exception" and process a return on the item even though it's outside the 30-day return limit (completely ignoring the 1-year warranty coverage from Kobalt). Fine, I'm not going to argue the details. I returned the compressor, and shortly thereafter, I received a text saying my refund had been processed. EXCEPT! It's for $15.70 less than what I originally paid for the compressor. I call customer service for a third time, and I'm told that the $15.70 is a "restocking fee." A restocking fee for an item that worked 2 times over 6 weeks and then completely died?! A restocking fee that customer service agent #2 never mentioned? And even after I explained why I was returning the compressor, Amazon agent #3 asked me 2 more times to explain why I needed to return the item - it died... it's no longer functioning. I finally got an Amazon credit for the restocking fee, but no one should have to work this hard to get a refund on a manufacturer warrantied compressor that died after 2 uses. Ridiculous! If you must purchase this compressor and have a Lowe's near you, purchase it in-store. The compressor doesn't appear to have a great track record on reliability and taking it back to Lowe's has got to be easier than dealing with it through Amazon.

The convenience and peace of mind alone make this worth it. Get yours today!
I am shocked after all of these years of owning 60 plus cars and bikes and balls and trackors that I have never owned an air compressor. The days of having to find and go to a gas station to put air in my tire is over. I was reluctant due to the price to purchase this, but remembering the last time I had to adjust the tire pressure in my car and having to resort to using a mechanic that I would not normally. This purchase was long overdue.
