Salted Capers (35.27 Ounce) by La Favorita

Excellent Quality
I prefer the salted variety of capers over the brined, as in my opinion the brine interferes with the flavor. I have been using this brand for several years, and have always been impressed with the flavor and quality.

Large capers with no vinegar
Former chef here-Happy to have found these without the vinegar brine, but be warned... do NOT salt your recipe until after you add these since they're packed in rock salt and retain an intense salt flavor. (Even after the salt is removed.) Immediately after I received these, I dumped them into a colander with large holes and rinsed all the salt off, gently squeezed the excess water from them and allowed them to air dry on a paper towel for approximately ten minutes before I froze them on a cookie sheet then tossed them into a couple of freezer Ziploc bags. I've used them in multiple recipes since-- and they're excellent! Just wish the price was better or the company offered them in a smaller quantity.

Exceptional capers
These are the best quality capers I purchased in a long time, Capers from Sicily, especially the ones packed in salt, are my favorites. It is a large jar, and it will last me a while, but I am saddened by the fact that they are no longer available (or for the foreseeable future) on this site. Please bring them back!

Best Price
These capers a bit big in size for my taste, but I use them for my dog who has MCT cancer. Capers decrease the release of histamines, and capers that are in vinegar are fermented, which would be a no-no. These capers taste fine, but I took off one start as for me personally, I prefer the smaller ones. That said, I have personally used them in a bind and they are fine. The best thing about them is the price.

Nice floral scent and a bold caper flavor
These capers are from Italy. They are approximately 1/2 inch in size, a bit larger than the smallest ("non-pareil") capers. They have a nice floral scent and a bold caper flavor. If you cook often with capers, it is more economical to buy a large jar of salted capers like this one (2+ pounds!) rather than those tiny jars of capers in brine that you see at the supermarket. Salted capers will keep for a long time in your refrigerator. Just measure out the desired amount of capers, rinse twice to remove the excess salt, and use as usual.

Great Flavor
I use with fish, sauces and on pizza. Once opened, they last for months. I keep some in a small jar with water in the fridge so they're always ready. Otherwise soak in warm water for 20 minutes.

Very large
Good quality, good flavor, but the capers are huge, almost as big as a blueberry. I'm satisfied with my purchase, but if you're expecting BB sized capers this isn't that.
