The aluminum should be resistant to corrosion, but I’d recommend rinsing it off after contract with seawater because there’s likely a steel pin in the gate

How wide is the body? Trying to figure out if it will link to 5/16" nominal chain.

At it widest point it is 3/8". I believe the inside of that chain is just shy of 1/2". You ahould be gucci.
