‘Yoga is one such technique that can get you to overcome problems you’ve been struggling with for years.’
Gary Jay joins the many authors who are eager to share the benefits of yoga to physical, mental and spiritual health. While there are many books on the subject, Gary’s approach is so straightforward that after reading his book beginners especially will understand the terms, the concepts and the poses that Gary presents with illustrations that simplify the process of learning.Gary opens with a terse and well-considered overview of Yoga – what it is: ‘yoga is more than doing some seemingly impossible and pretty weird twisted poses. Yoga is derived from the Sanskrit word “yuj”, which “to integrate or to unite”. It entails harmonizing the mind with the body and breath through different breathing techniques, yoga poses (referred to as asanas) and meditation. Yoga is a mental, physical, and spiritual practice, which can be practiced for various reasons. This ancient art originated from India, and it is based on harmonizing the development system of the mind, body and spirit. Its ultimate goal is liberation, which is why the continued practice of yoga will lead to a sense of peace and well-being… Yoga is an essential part of reversing our outward flow of energy and our consciousness in a manner that helps our mind become a dynamic center of direct perception, which is clearly no longer dependent on our fallible senses but is very much capable of experiencing Truth.’To make the lessons fit the needs of the individuals Gary divides his instructions as follows: Yoga Poses For Weight Loss - Warrior Pose, Half Moon Pose, The Tree Pose, The Half-Spinal Twist, The Cobbler Pose; Yoga For Stress Relief And Relaxation - Legs Up The Wall, Restorative Twist, Supta Baddha Konasana, Eagle Arms; Yoga Poses For Relaxation - Standing Forward Bend, Warrior 1 Pose, Warrior 3 Pose, Heart Opener; Yoga for Mindfulness and Inner Peace - Corpse Pose, Eye- Of The Needle Pose, The Cat-Cow Pose, Half Lord Of The Fishes Pose, Seated Forward Bend, and Mountain Pose. Each pose is accompanied by wither a photograph of a person in that pose and assuming that pose or drawings that help explain the positioning.Practical, useful, and a must for those who have not tried Yoga out of fear of embarrassment. Gary Jay not only makes it OK to try all the poses – he also encourages us in the most supportive manner. Grady Harp, May 16

Excellent for beginners
The book is very simple but well written. Starts with a introduction on how yoga can help loosing weight, then continue explaining different poses(all the poses have a very useful illustration) and in the conclusions gives more tips on how to loose weight. I personally go to the gym every week to loose weight but never tried to mix my cardio with yoga, i think i definitely try and i recommend this book especially to beginners like me.

I have been trying to get into yoga because I hear so much of health benefits doing it. I love that this book has image illustration because I am a visual learner. What I liked about this is that teaches you the name if each stand and the benefit of it. It even talks about healthy eating. I normally do fasting, however, this book tells me that fasting not good for me because it could cause a heart attack if I drink too much water while I am fasting. I have to check into that. I recommend this book who want to learn yoga.

Recommended.
A good book on yoga. Yoga is really good for the health and the mind. All the basic poses are explained well here with their respective images. Easy to follow and do. Unlike other forms of exercise yoga doesn't depend on straining the muscles. It is more like a relaxed exercise involving a lot of proper breathing and balance.

Did not like!
I bought this very very thin booklet. Based on some reviews. But Boy! What a disapointment! Poses on the front cover are nowhere in this booklet or leaflet . Total let down! Returned it right away! Feel like i got taken! Very little information on yoga. N why write a booklet or leaflet of 28 pages if yoga poses on front cover are not on this booklet!

Very informative book with great pictures for guidance. The health benefits of yoga were clearly stated and the poses were explained in a way that anyone could do them! I'm glad I came across this book since I have been incorporating yoga into my workout routine lately! Will definitely Reread to soak in all the info.
