With this one, I think you need an opener with “purple” learn button.

If your opener has the purple learn button on it they should work. I don't know about other opener models

How do you open the units to replace the battery?

If you look carefully around the perimeter of the case there is a line defining the 2 halves and along that line there is a slot that you can use a screwdriver or other small tool to split the case open and then you can replace the battery. It can feel like the case might be damaged if you have never done this before, but they are made to be split apart to gain access to the battery.
