Q: Does this also work with cisco, netgear and other wifi routers?

To my knowledge you will need at least 1 connected Unifi Access point and then install the UniFi Network Controller software to manage them. You can use a any brand router to manage your internet connection, but will need to run a network cable to one connected Unifi Access Point and then the BeaconHD can then extend that AP wirelessly. I have the whole Unifi setup and the BeaconHD works great to extend to my yard.

Q: Do others have the problem 1 reviewer mentioned: "I have a couple of smart home devices that lose connection and then won't reconnect"? I have lots.

I’m not convinced that this isn’t just a general problem with IoT. I have 2 alien routers (one as a mesh point), and I get this same problem. Usually only with lightbulbs. Sometimes one or two drop and I have to turn them off manually and turn them back on. Then they reconnect for a while. I have about 70 devices on my network at any given time. Been trying to solve this issue via routers and APs for a couple of years now rather than IoT brand changes. It’s super frustrating, to say the least.

Q: Can this be used outdoors?

its not waterproof its meant for indoors. the unify flex hd is outdoor but powered by poe.
