Jonathan Green (12190) Love Your Soil, Soil Food for Lawns in Hard Soils - Soil Amendment for Grass & Vegetable Gardens (5,000 Sq. Ft.)

I hate grass; hubby loves it. Compromised w/extended flower beds replacing some of the grass and elimination of chemicals used on the grass. We spread Love your soil along with composted manure on beds and the grass surrounding the house several years ago. That grass is now thick and green and looks great -- we don't do anything to it except keep it cut (we never water either). So do the flower beds, but you can readily see a huge improvement with the grass since it's way too pricey to use in the 1/2 acre back field which remains thin and struggling. It improves the actual soil and keeps working over the years. So, if you want to kill the grass like I do, don't use this on it.

The soil in our new place seemed hard so since I loved all the other JG seed I thought I'd try this to condition the rock hard soil. I used it late this Fall, the grass sprouted but I'll see in the Spring if it did anything.

Use this product every year. It works in concert with the other Jonathan Green Fertilizers and gives a non-chemical boost to my lawn. My Landscaper commented on how poorly my lawn did over the winter; added some Love your soil, Magical; and Fertilizer and it came back to life. We live in an area with thick clay soil and this product seems to help. Recommend!

This stuff really works to loosen the hard, compacted clay soil that we have in Northern VA. For years I could not get the grass to grow consistently, and typically it would thin out and die by the end of the summer. Had a lawn service, did the aeration every year, brought in top soil, bought the best seed, installed a sprinkler system, but same result year after year. Last year started using Love Your Soil in addition to the Mag-I-Cal product and the difference was very clear within 30 days or so. Grass was much thicker and the lawn did not die out at the end of the season. It came back like crazy this spring. This year I switched over to using just Jonathan Green products (i.e., their New American Lawn plan) and the results continue to impress. A bit pricey, but it all works as advertised so I'm not complaining.

Really pleased with this lawn fertilizer. Half of my front lawn is in direct sun and the other half gets shade. The sunny part was looking terrible compared to the shaded part. Within a week of laste September application on the damaged/less robust side of the lawn, it already looks so much better! Lots of watering with the sprinkler to get it to absorb but I am ridiculously pleased with how much better my front lawn is looking. I think I am zone 7 - mid to northern NJ. I put this down in conjunction with grass seed for sunny areas and the growth is amazing (I was skeptical of my abilities). I didn’t follow directions and just applied by hand but it seems to have worked. Definitely recommend.

It didn't really grow as I had hoped only filled in holes.
