Wow! My New Favorite
I began my search for the perfect air fryer months ago. I discovered that most were smaller than I would have liked and would either take up precious counter space or be relegated to a closet or cupboard to be dragged out when I thought about using it. (Maybe). I first came across the Cuisinart TOA 60 in a department store and I was intrigued. It could do so much more than just air fry and it could be put on my countertop to take the place of my toaster oven! I did my homework, researched and read all the reviews and decided to order it from Amazon. I'm so glad I did. I can't say enough good things about this appliance. Since I have received it, I have toasted perfect toast in it. Yes, it is better than my old toaster oven. It gets the toast done on both sides without flipping. Choose light, medium or dark. Fabulous! You can fit 5 slices of bread in the oven. Air fried chicken wings came out just PERFECT! I did them the way we like them, extra crispy and delicious. The basket held 15 large drumettes and flats without touching or crowding. Next, I did sweet potato fries that were perfectly done and crispy on the outside, soft in the middle like they should be. Roast chicken is a delight from this oven! I can't wait to try more of our favorites. I can truly say this is my favorite kitchen appliance and I can see that it will be used every day around here. I read all the Amazon reviews and I think that the ones that were given one star might just be user related. First, let me say that if you cook at all you probably keep an eye on your food as it cooks regardless what appliance you are using. I think there may be a learning curve here with this new product. Don't look at the cookbook and just blindly take their word for cooking time. Experiment a little to get the food cooked to your liking. This is not a "set it and forget it" appliance like a slow cooker. Check on your food as it cooks, especially in the air fry mode. You will want to either shake the basket for fries or turn your chicken wings mid way through cooking. Some people said that they had trouble with the timer. Mine seems to work perfectly. I set an additional timer at first to check it out. Yes, the knobs are plastic but so are the knobs on my slow cooker other toaster oven, etc. I don't think any of those knobs are made to be turned COUNTER CLOCKWISE. So if you take your food out BEFORE the time goes off, just leave the door open (the oven will turn off when door is opened) and let the timer run out by itself. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my new Cuisinart!

It does exactly what I want it to do COOKS MY FOOD perfectly
AWesome .... I have cooked in several restaurants throughout my lifetime, so I know how to cook and what to expect from a convection oven. (line cook, prep chef, sous chef, etc.) to all the nay sayers out there I say "bahoooey" If you wanted something digital why dog this oven cuz it isnt what you wanted? If you broke your timer knob, how and why ? simply leave it open and the timer runs down. (or turn the knob to "toast") Doesnt cook at the exact temperature ? No it doesnt, but then neither does my $3000 commercial oven - get over it. If you dont know how to cook, then why dog the oven cuz it doesnt read your mind ? Yes it takes getting used to, but then so does ANY convection oven ! =duh= I know how to cook and I know when I buy a new appliance I will need to learn how it works to use it best. I read the bad reviews and bought it anyway, why ??? because I know that most people simply dont know how to cook. If you want an excellent oven with analog (not digital) controls, it is perfect. I did not want digital controls because I know they are not as good as old school analog. period . simply put, if you want a digital oven buy something else or use your phone to order a pizza.and yes it does have a cleanout tray, chincy but its there. cleans up nicely after each use (hot water and soap does wonders) Way tooo many people giving it less than 5 stars because it isnt what they thought it was or doesnt work how they think it should. I did 6 chicken breasts at 325 in 15 minutes... perfect ! frozen fries at 375 just under 12 minutes, again ... perfect (better than my deep fryer!) .... I can say goodbye to my pizza oven and deep fryer-- AMEN -- one note however is the rack is "just" big enough for a standard frozen pizza. yes it also has a simple cookbook in the manual. I recomend adjusting temperatures at least 25 degrees less that they tell you. keep an eye on your food until you learn how it works and you too will be very satisfied. I don't impress easily but I am very impressed with this oven ! If you want a digital no brains needed oven DONT BUY THIS == If you want an awesome countertop convection oven that also is an airfryer BUY IT NOW !

Great investment for my kitchen
This is a relatively small and compact unit. The 'dials' are old school and I like that, easy to read. The timer makes a 'countdown ticking sound' which is not an issue for me. As with all cooking devices, keep an eye on them while you are cooking or at least become familiar with the heat settings. This is a small oven, it will heat up quickly and become very hot, overly hot while baking - just a heads up. My Kenmore oven has never had a consistent temperature, ever. Always have to watch what your cooking, same applies here. I've gone through a half dozen toasters that are all a piece of garbage, how difficult can it be to make a toaster that can 'evenly' toast your bread? Answer - pretty difficult. Well, this airfryer has a wonderful toast setting, again - keep an eye on it until you are familiar and comfortable with the settings. Toast comes out PERFECT. Potatoes come out amazing, haven't cooked much more than that so far but heating things up is quick with the convection setting and I no longer have to get my big oven up to temperature. Sides stay warm, top front, very warm, top middle and top back do get hot! The back of the unit is warm. It's light enough to move into place if you don't want to keep it on your counter all of the time. Even has little hand grips, well balanced too. I would suggest covering your drip tray with a sheet of aluminum foil, mine got christened with oil, and of course it'll never come off. Absolutely pleased with this. Free shipping to Hawaii in 3 days, damage free - doesn't get much better than that.

Toasting is fast, air fryer works well, not too hot on outside, fan reasonably quiet
Overall nice quality, easy/simple to use, timer works well. I own a dedicated air fryer, but then our trusty B&D under the cabinet toaster oven died (after 18 years....). I liked our air fryer so much, but when I saw there were combo toaster/air fryers being made, I like they idea of having the all in one option. I tried a few other toaster ovens (both regular convection and another air fryer combo) and they all got blistering hot on the sides and top and it didn't take long. The backs of these other models (some relatively expensive/higher tech models too) were so hot that I thought the power cord would melt. I was shocked that they cant put a little more thermal insulation in these things. So I was disappointed and almost gave up, but then saw this model. Before I cooked anything in it, I ran it in air fry mode at the highest setting and let is run for 20 minutes. I was pleased that overall, the outside remained just warm, and even cool over the majority of the surface. There were a couple of small hot spots (ouchy hot) on the sides near the bottom of the door, and the front glass got hot - these spots were hot, but this was far superior to the blistering heat coming off the other units I tried. I imagine the longer it runs, the hotter it gets, but I don't think I'll ever run anything for more that 20 to 25 minutes, so this was very acceptable. Toasting is fast, much faster than I'm used too. The toast shade settings seem reliable. Timer seems accurate (compared with stove top timer). Air frying compared to my dedicated air fryer: I think this works just as well as the dedicated air fryer (I don't have the super top end P-brand fryer, so not comparing to that, but the one I have is mid-range cost and got great reviews). The larger square surface area of the Cuisinart frying basket is I think better than the typical smaller/deeper round type air fryer baskets. The only down side is that you can't "toss" the contents of the basket with the Cuisinart like you can with a dedicated air fryer basket/handle. So it is a little more effort to get an oven mitt to pull out the basket and stir things up (which you really need to do while air frying), so not quite as convenient. Otherwise, it works about the same as the dedicated air fryer in terms of quality of the food. The Cuisinart actually seems to cook faster (I think due to the larger area of the basket allowing a thinner layer of food) and the convection fan is also a lot quieter than my dedicated unit, though it is still noticeable. Overall, very happy with the simplicity of use and the results. Also very happy that I am not afraid to leave it next to the wall due to slag furnace heat emissions....it looks nicer in person than it does on the photos too. I think the only other downside is that the oven interior does seem a little cramped in terms of height. This doesn't bother me since I would never roast a giant chicken in something like this, and it may fit just fine. It seems adequate width and depth overall. This definitely works as a space saving toaster and air fryer combo for me

Awesome functionality, terrible durability
My wife wanted one these for years. I resisted, saying we already had a stove, why do we need another little stove? Dear reader, I was wrong. Turns out this is one of the most useful kitchen appliances I’ve ever bought. Here’s what I like: - Cook times are incredibly short. This thing heats up quick and cooks fast. A 2 lbs bag of cauliflower florets is done in 25 minutes. A frozen pizza that would take 25-28 minutes in the big oven is done in 10-12 minutes. - It’s incredibly helpful to have a second stove when cooking for a crowd. -It’s the summer kitchen I’ve always wanted. It doesn’t heat the house up like the big stove, and if necessary I can plug it in outside so the kitchen is not heated at all. What I don’t like: - Questionable durability. My first one broke in less than a year. The broiler functions stopped working and I was able to return it. I tried a cheaper replacement but it was terrible - slow, uneven cooking. So I got another one of these. This is very basic technology, and if they built it to last I’d have no complaints. Plus, it’d be better for the environment. Overall, though, it’s great. I use it at least four nights a week. If you’re on the fence go ahead and buy it. You won’t regret it. Update April 2021: Bought a replacement on Amazon in July 2020. By April 2021 the function knob failed on the new unit. Waiting to hear back from Cuisinart on a possible replacement, but these are clearly not designed for use in a busy family. They are too expensive to have to replace every 9 to 12 months, and the cost difference between a a cheap selector knob and a quality selector knob can't be more than a few dollars for the volume a large company like Cuisinart is buying. Is doubly disappointing as we typically just leave it on the convect bake feature - the function knob doesn't even see much use.

Excellent balance between quality and price
My partner and I purchased this item a week ago, and since then we have thoroughly put it though its paces. We are both really happy with its performance so far. For reference the features and the experiences here are for the TOA-60BKS. Like many people we are cooking at home a lot more these days due to our state's stay-at-home order. This purchase was a significant part of our budget, so we did a fair bit of pre-search before buying it, and have to say, I agree with a lot of the positive reviews that I saw. So far we've cooked two frozen pizzas, two large chicken thighs, fries and brussel sprouts. Everything we've put in it has been cooked perfectly. The temp seems pretty spot on, and the fan inside seems to circulate the air well - resulting in the food being cooked really consistently. The quality of the build is really good. Nothing feels particularly cheap, everything that looks metal, is metal. It is really easy to clean, with the bottom of it being a slide out tray (with a nice non-stick treatment). A quick sponge in the sink even removed the drippings on the bottom from the chicken. I grew up in a restaurant, so I'm used to using commercial cooking equipment ~ I say this because this unit definitely leans in that direction. I noticed a lot of people cooking stuff to death, maybe by using the times on the back of the box? Don't do that. This is not a slow 'kitchen gadget', and you'll want to watch the food closely until you dial in temps and times. If you are acclimated to higher quality kitchen gear ~ it will not let you down (in terms of feeling like a toy). After a week of using it I'm really pleased and feel that I got more than I paid for. The single feedback for this unit is this: it is not easy to get a precise cook time set, and I end up using my phones timer in its place. This is slightly irritating because the timer is also this units on/off switch. As a result, I end up turning the timer past the time I want, then using my phones timer - then manually stopping the unit at the end. This is really not a big deal (as I would do this anyways), but fixing this single feature would bring my 4.8/5 to a solid 5/5.

Updated: Broken within 10 months.
Update: The function control knob is useless. I can only operate the oven on the Bake setting. Bought it Nov ‘19, started to break in the spring, now useless in July ‘20. I love the functionality. It’s a toaster. It’s an air fryer. It’s a broiler. And it does it all well. Like most relationships, the first six months were great. Background: All of the controls are mechanical knobs. The most important knob, the Function dial, has seven settings. For those of a certain age, it works exactly like old television channel controls - you apply enough force to jump to the next setting. This knob gets a lot of action: Toast a bagel in the morning, Air Fry some tater tots for lunch, and bake something for dinner. About a month ago, setting the function to Toast wouldn’t power the oven. But it was an intermittent problem - turn the knob to the next setting and then back to Toast and we’d be in business. Of course, being mechanical, I knew the all-important Function knob was living on borrowed time... Present: Desiring to broil some fresh deep sea scallops, I set the timer and turned the Function knob to Broil. And then Nothing. Nada. Zip. No heat, no oven light, no fan. No amount of cajoling the Function control would make the Broil setting work. Every other setting behaved correctly, but I wanted Broiled scallops, not Toasted ones. In the end, I had pan-seared scallops. Tasty, yes, but soured by the aftertaste of a defective appliance taking up valuable counter space... So my 7-function oven is down to 5.5 (Toast still acts up at times). With every mode change, deep inside I cringe, fearful that I’ve expended all of my allotted Air Fryer sessions. Today I embark on a new journey - contacting CuisineArt and invoking the Limited Warranty. My Function knob has violated the contract between consumer and manufacturer. I hold hope that a remedy exists and it shall be achieved with a minimum of shipping and handling. Note on the controls overall: As I mentioned, all of them are mechanical. The temperature setting is an analog dial behaving like a rheostat, or dimmer switch. I never tested the accuracy of the temperature with an oven thermometer, but it is possible that temps may vary between ovens. I eventually got a general sense of what temperature to use through trial and error. The toaster mode has its own dedicated timer. It’s a spring-loaded timer which is powered by the action of turning the knob. This kind of timer typically isn’t very precise, and for toasting that’s fine. Light, Medium, and Dark are vague terms and you quickly learn your favorite angle to twist the knob. However, the other 6 (well, 5 for me) functions use a similar timer control. This control has 10 minute graduations, but I never trusted them. I advise always checking your cooking time with your watch or frequent peeks in the window. Final perspective: If money wasn’t an issue, I’d get the version with digital controls. Yeah, it might break too, but it won’t break through regular use. Also, the temperature and time settings would be more accurate and precise.

Huge upgrade over my old airfryer
About 4 years ago I purchased a COSORI 5.8 Qt Smart WiFi Air Fryer Not long after purchasing, the touch keypad started giving me issues, it simply worked when it chose to do so. It could fit a decent amount of food to be cooked, but was used mostly for making french fries and tater tots, especially during the summer months and not having to use an oven. Got an email about a potentially dangerous hazard with that model, and the manufacturer offered a replacement about a year ago. Decided to just set it aside for now, and look for a bigger and better model. This one works so much better and faster than my previous unit, I'm almost to the point of dumping my regular toaster permanently. Many different cooking and toasting options, it was worth every single penny I paid, and just like my old one, allows me to make smaller meals without having to use my oven. Highly Recommended!
