Great book for 1st Gen Grass Fed Ranchers
I thought this book was well written, informative, and perfect for the first-gen family trying to start a new business in grass-fed beef. Great introduction to get us started. Lots of great resources referenced in the book for further guidance and understanding. I think the one-star reviews on here have ulterior motives, instead just focused on pushing a friend or relative’s book.

Lots of info.
I am overwhelmed! I love this book. It's a storehouse of information. I know which bread of beef cattle I would like to raise now and do much more.

I am NOT a farmer but am aspiring to be & this book is so GREAT!
The information is clear, easy to understand if you are not familiar with cattle ranching (Grass Fed) I recommend this to anyone wanting to change to a grass fed operation or starting out new....This book is great!

Advice from someone who raises cattle on grass: Buy Ruechel's guide and skip this one
Not a bad book for general information about raising cattle on grass. However, after several years of actually raising cattle on grass, I find myself referring to Julius Ruechel's "Grass-Fed Cattle: How to Produce and Market Natural Beef" all the time, while I have never referred to this book. Buy Ruechel's book and skip this one.

Back to the Future
This "back to the basics" book is the future of farming. It is the best teaching book I've read lately after the Bible. Very clear, easy to understand, even for me, and all the topics discussed give internet links or contacts right there in the chapter for further study, reference or questions. I will be looking for other books by Mr. Bennett

Don't Waste Your Money On This One
As a farmer wanting to start a grass-fed cattle operation I thought this would be a good choice, but it was not. The author doesn't even have any experience with cattle, which he mentions in his preface. To me this was a bad sign from the beginning. I have read quite a few books on farming and grass-fed cattle, and most of them I enjoy, but this one was not interesting to read at all. It was a struggle to even get through it. The information presented in this book is very basic, something someone who'd never been around a farm or cattle would read. I consider a book good and useful if I am able to take just one idea from it and apply it to my situation. Didn't even get one idea from this book. It was so bad I sold it back to Amazon. Instead of wasting your money and time with this book, I highly recommend: Grass-Fed Cattle by Julius Ruechel and Salad Bar Beef by Joel Salatin. If you are also interested in rotational grazing, which you should be if you plan to do grass-fed beef, I highly recommend: No Risk Ranching and Comeback Farms by Greg Judy, Management-Intensive Grazing and Kick the Hay Habit by Jim Gerrish, and Greener Pasture on Your Side of the Fence by Bill Murphy.
