When I first got into tarot, I wanted to buy the traditional Rider-Waite-Smith deck of cards. There were lots of options featuring those well-known designs/symbols, but what I liked about this deck was the black border and pretty black and yellow sun design on the back. The black border somehow makes the colors pop a little more (compared to the white border). The cards come in a cardboard storage box which protects the cards, and also a black linen pouch with a mystical design. The drawstring opening on the pouch is a little snug when taking the cardboard box out, but it's doable. As with most decks, it comes with a small booklet with card meanings, but it's very basic. There are several really good books out there that provide much more detailed card interpretations. This is the deck that got me started on my tarot journey and remains a favorite, even though I've since purchased several fancier decks.

I love the artwork. I do wish they had the upright and reverse meanings written on the cards so I don’t have to keep the guide book with the set . I am still a beginner and only reference occasionally. Those who are more experienced may not need explanations from the guidebook as much.

Otherwise , very good quality. If cared for would last a lifetime.I like the thin border around the edges.

Hi, I'm zafiro, I'm a beginner tarot reader with about almost a year under my belt. (June 30th.) This deck in particular is my GO TOOO. It's small enough for travel and does come with a box and pouch. The cards are strong but thin card stock. They're pretty strong, considering I've beaten mine up doing 7 readings a day for a couple months. The cards flow fast and smooth and are easy to shuffle. I bought the black bg version for the colors to pop, and they really do. I feel like I connect with them better this way. The descriptions are great ! This wasn't my first deck, but it did sure help memorizing the other aspects as I got more into tarot and got other decks that loosely follows RWS system like my beginner deck. The only thing I wish was better was the box, it can easily fall apart, however you can always buy a case from your local Botanica, metaphysical shop, or etsy seller. A big fan anf will always reccomend alongside some of my other decks.
