Hadn’t seen this in decades… still weepy at the end…worth it.

Back street…… one of my all time fave to watch every chance I get

This, along with "Imitation of Life", was one of my mom's favorite movies and I've looked for it on every streaming channel and platform available.Susan Hayward plays Rae Smith, a fashion designer who has an eye on a career. She meets a man (played by John Gavin), who happens to be married, of course. She resigns herself to never being with him according to the societal mores of that era (the 1950s-60s) and concentrates on her career, eventually hitting the big leagues of fashion. Still, she can't keep herself from seeing her lover and becoming his mistress because of the state of his marriage and his wife's alcoholism. With a twist ending that shocks you to the core, it is a romantic, heart wrenching movie that I will watch again and fondly remember my mother.

This is by far one of the best movies I’ve ever seen in my life and I’ve seen it many times and enjoy it more and more.

I have seen this moving, love story many times, and each time as usual, I cry! This is a story about two beautiful people, who fall so in love with each other, but time never seems to be on their side, only their powerful love for each other lasts! They always seem to be in the right place at the wrong time in their life!This is a story about a very pretty, and sweet and gentle, small town girl named Rae (Susan Hayward), who has dreams of becoming a fashion designer, and Paul(John Gavin), a very handsome marine, who happens to be a rich owner of a line of department stores. Their love for each other begins, when Paul helps rescues Rae from a old man trying to make a pass at her! Paul and Rae are smitten with each other! Their love affair seems perfect until Rae finds out that he is married.Paul is married to a very abusive, alcoholic wife, named Liz (Vera Miles); Liz is very beautiful, but she is very selfish, and self-centered and dangerous! Paul wants a divorce, but he puts up with Liz and their awful marriage, because of the children, and he tries to protect the children from finding out the real truth about their awful, shallow, mother! In the meantime Rae and Paul's forbidden love for each other grows stronger, until heartbreaking, life changing events start to happen!I just love John Gavin, he is one of my favorite leading men, he is so handsome and beautiful, he just takes your breath away! WOW! And I love Susan Hayward in the movie, I love the way she portrays Rae in this movie. And I thought Vera Miles did a outstanding job as Paul's alcoholic wife Liz, you can't help but hate Liz, Paul's wife because Vera Miles, played the part of Liz so well!I highly recommend this movie, if you are a romantic and love, love stories, and handsome men like John Gavin, you will love this movie; and this is a tear-jerker you will need your box of Kneenex with you. And I so adored all the beautiful gowns and dresses, and I love the beautiful beach house of Rae's where you could see the breathtaking beauty of the ocean, and I love the scene were Rae and Paul had a picnic at a pretty lake, very beautiful! I would dearly love to see this movie on DVD! PLEASE MAKE A HIGH QUALITY DVD OF THIS MOVIE! PLEASE! PLEASE!

Fabulous old fashioned weepie that delivers its emotional punch! Reminiscent of such melodramas as Madame X and Douglas Sirk's films this remake is highly entertaining. The DVD transfer is solid and both image and soundtrack more than satisfactory.

Ticked all the excellent boxes except for one thing.....with great expectation I opened the package only to my find the lovely Susan Hayward and John Gavin had been dubbed in SPANISH. To the great merriment of my work colleagues one came up with the idea of going through the menu and eventually we were able to change language to English. This time we now have Spanish sub titles....this whole event started out with great expectation...then huge disappointment...then to tears as this is one of the great tearjerking movies. My overall experience is positive as I have a great story to amuse my friends who have all this HILARIOUS

I didn't know whether it played in English and I didn't know how to play it because I could not find English on it, but they told me how to do it and the DVD is fine and I am pleased with it

Wrong choice. I thought I could get it in English like others I have sent for in past, but this one doesn't have the English translation.

For those who still have a soul (a Rarity among our young generations)... an absolute touching film with a magnificent Susan Hayward. GV
