Not at all. I have had one on my phone for over two years and have had no issues.

Q: How can you remove it?

Heat it up.. hair dryer.. and peel it off

Q: My case has a velvet lining will it still adhere to phone and get through the case?

It should, they are pretty strong. My phone case has 2layers... a thin rubber layer and a hard shell casing. It works through both.
