The Little Book of Hygge: Danish Secrets to Happy Living (The Happiness Institute Series) Review: Review of The Little Book of Hygge: Danish Secrets to Happy Living - I really liked this book. The hardcover itself is super nice — it feels good in your hands and looks great on a coffee table. You can tell a lot of care went into how it’s made. The layout is clean and inviting, and the photos and little details make it a cozy read from start to finish. The book does a great job explaining what hygge is all about — that warm, comfortable feeling you get when you slow down and enjoy simple moments. It made me want to light some candles, grab a blanket, and appreciate the small things more. It’s not a long or heavy read, but that’s part of its charm. Just a nice, comforting book that leaves you feeling a bit happier and more relaxed. Totally worth reading. Review: Easy to read book with easy to understand concepts - Great book. Easy to read and concepts are laid out well and easy to understand. Picked up some fun information about Denmark along the way. Used the book to help me have a HYGGE party at work

Good read on Hygge
Personally I really enjoyed this book. I notice there are a lot of mixed reviews regarding it, and I can understand why. If you were to follow this book to the letter, then you would have to invest in some pretty expensive items...BUT if you follow this book and incorporate your own ideas, then you can hygge on a shoestring budget! The book has very pretty illustrations and describes hygge pretty well! Long story short; if you want more "hygge" in your life, get some nice ambient lighting, lots of candles, cook beautiful meals from scratch, create a nook to feel cozy and secure, and enjoy wine with friends and family. There is more to hygge than what I just described, but don't look at this book as THE only way to be able to achieve hygge in your life. I adored this book and thought it was pretty well written. I loved the recipes, illustrations and the mental images that it inspired.

Excellent Succinct Source for the Concept of Hygge
This book is a great introduction to the concept of hygge. It’s a quick read with easily digestible chapters. The author incorporates a lot of data and research as well as recipes, tips, suggestions and even a craft.

A little sized book with a little explained Danish practice.
As a feng shui practitioner based in the Black Hat Sect and follower of anyone describing ORGANIZATION AND PLACEMENT OR REMOVAL OF STUFF ... and all things "making house into a home" ... I wanted to learn more about HYGGE especially as this is the season of doing this sort of "stuff". The hunkering down. The winter solstice honoring. The candles on. The cozy blanket and the warm wool socks. So that is the essence of the book. There is some sharing of documentation of what other mostly European nations do about practicing this sort of comfortable-ness making. The author is well grounded in HAPPINESS and HYGGE so I thought he would have lots of wisdoms to share. Instead ... not so much. The book is physically tiny and easy to hold and read. The illustrations are adorable. But the meat and potatoes (no pun intended) of the book is a bit underwhelming. Would not order from this author again. Think I get the picture about "what is hygee" already and did not learn a whole lot from this book. Too much personal sharing by the author as to his experiences. Seems like hygee is all about getting together with friends and sharing an alcohol drink, eat chocolates and have a shared time/experience usually at the end of a "quality" shared day. Seems a lot of frosting on a cake (which is also what Hygee is!). A lot of glossing over. Thought "Happiness Institute" would offer a whole lot more of how to do it, what it is and how to improve upon it to bring more to one's soul ... it just fell flat for me. Will try another author. Book came fast from the seller. Would buy from seller again!

Keys to be happy, calm, cozy and safe!
A very honest book that gives so many delightful insights into life in Denmark, especially the very high value the people place on sharing life together and the joys they have of giving and receiving their life experiences in a very mutually satisfying and safe and comfortable way. Their lifestyle reminded me of the 50 or 60 year study of the Roseto Effect done in Pennsylvania USA that examined why this community experienced better health than other parts of the country. They found the key was having close relationships and close family ties and happy, stable and safe relationships and rituals, much like the people in Denmark experience today. This book is fun to read and cannot help but encourage everyone to adopt some of the ideas into their everyday living because the concepts meet very deep needs in every human being to feel, as the book says, happy, calm, cozy and safe. You can't "buy" the lifestyle offered in the book, but you can sure "borrow" some of the ideas and incorporate them into your everyday life and start to enjoy them! They will make you happy!

Soothing to the soul
A delightful book about how to enjoy the simple pleasures of life like, cozy socks and a cup of tea. I just purchased this book, but it came highly recommend by Angela Jia Kim, the author of Savor Beauty available here on Amazon. I am reading this book as part of my self care nightly ritual. I do my skincare PM ritual, make a cup of tea, light a candle, turn on some classical music, put on my cozy socks and sink into my cozy bed with this heart warming book. It reminds me to enjoy life, family, friends and still silent moments which are quite calming to the mind, body and soul.
