I like this small, wedge shaped whetstone for sharpening my woodcarving gouges. It is convenient for use while at woodcarving class, as well.

I have a LOT of High End ,& some Custom Knives, the ones with sartated cutting edges require a special shape of stone (Yes a round type will work) but all of those are diamond hones and I need the "Arkansas" (I have the Black one for surgical Sharp tooling) this is what I use before the black one. Perfect shape to cover all my curved needs and soft enough for the standard steels . Any steel that fills the 58 to 64 RH will need a diamond hone. Thanks Amazon for best friend of this Bladrsmith

Nice product with good packaging

I would have given this a better review if it came with some kind of instructions. I have never used a whetting stone before and had to go to YouTube to see how it works. I heard it was a good way to sharpen your knives so wanted to try it out. As to the sturdiness, after trying it out, I think if I purchased one in some type of box, that I noticed others came in, it would have been a little sturdier to use. But for my first time, this served the purpose, and it did the job.

I use this for smoothing machine tool ways, and tables, after removing surface rust. I then follow up with my precision ground shop stones.

Was really excited about using this. Looks like a great Stone... Unfortunately it arrived cracked in half.

Great for sharpening small curved carving knives

This is a wonderful stone that works well with my gouges! It is flawless and gives me a great edge for cutting.
