great for scooping hard butters for soap making
great design for scooping hard butters/oils for soap making. Flat scoop design makes it easy to plane off extra to clean off the tool. Doesn't bend or flex...sturdy. Handle is comfortable to hold. Just wish the tool was a bit longer though. Glad I bought this

I love this thing! It’s so much easier to use than a normal ice cream scoop. I will never go back to the old ones.

Give up your ice cream scoop
Spades are so much more efficient than ice cream scoops. You can easily scoop out the sides of the container and a strong wrist is not necessary. I just bought one for my elderly friend with wrist issues and she loves it. You won't get the pretty little balls of ice cream, but you will get MORE ice cream.

Awesome value, and good quality...
I get a little impatient with the negative reviews that state that this item isn't as 'curved' as they expect it. Virtually what you see, here, is what you get (I'm not really a fan of curved ice cream scoops anymore as neither are my folks as they simply like to cut out what they want and then take it). My folks cannot tell which item I spent $4 bucks on, and the other $8 dollars on (between the New Star item for $4 and HIC Harold Import by Amazon for $8); so naturally, I'm happier with the item I spend the $4 dollars on, because I got a better value and the same results. It's dishwasher safe, and it'll cut through difficult/hard ice cream the same as any other spade.Final thoughts regarding choosing spades or scoops: Make sure it's made out of stainless steel; because if you put aluminum spades in the dishwasher, it will oxidize and look really yucky/bad because of the detergent that is used in the dishwasher. I could get into a whole other rant about dishwasher vs hand washing (I'm lazy); it's a lot more convenient to simply push the sanitize button and get everything thoroughly cleaned on that night, and clean out the dishwasher in the following morning than it is to hand wash the night of and let everything dry out until the morning to put away...
