DKfindout! Stone Age

Terrible. Misleading, generalizes.
I dont understand how this book got such good reviews. This book treats different *species* of hominids who lived millions of years apart as though they all lived in the same way, in the same dwellings, and wore the same clothes. Never mind that these aspects of culture differ across time and space, as well as species. No wonder that people don't understand human history, if this is the junk they are reading.Sadly there are few childrens books about human evolution and early people. Much better than this book are "The First Drawing", "The First Dog", 'Discovery in the Cave", and "When We Became Humans ".I started to read this book to my kid and had to put it away. It's that bad. When information is wrong or grossly misleading in an educational book, I cannot tolerate it. Very disappointed in DK. It's going back and if amazon won't take it its going in the trash. The book I received also had gotten wet.

Great for young readers of all ages
My 4 and 7 year olds both love this book.We bought this book because my daughter had been learning about cave paintings in school and wanted to know more about them and about ancient people. My 4 year old son has been watching a lot of outdoor shows and has gotten really interested in backcountry camping. He was excited to see some of the same tools in this book that he has learned about, like the bow drill used to start fire. He also loves the page in this book that compares the tools we use for camping now to the tools used by ancient humans. My daughter (7) loves the information about cave art and the fictionalized vignette about a young girl who defends her camp from a wolverine using a spear. There are lots of interesting details on each page of this book, so they get something new out of each read. As with all DK books, the high quality photographs make each page visually appealing. The contents show how ancient people hunted, what they ate, how they made tools, where they lived, how they developed farming skills, and what animals lived with them. It also discusses the transition from the stone age to the bronze age and iron age. This one will be sure to be a favorite of ours for a long time!

Engaging!
As a teacher, I haven’t seen many books about the Stone Age that I am thrilled about. I finally found one in this DK series! I love DK books in general because they have many vibrant, interesting visuals, with descriptions straight to the point. It’s easy to read and visually pleasing for my students. They love going to our classroom library and taking these books out. It’s their first choice!

Great little book
The book was smaller than I expected, but I should have paid more attention to the details. I’m so used to other books by the same people which are much larger in size.Overall the product was perfect. Lots of great information.

Factual book for young (or old)
I bought this book for my kids, but I really enjoy reading it with them as well. The language is clear and informative without being cutesy or condescending.

Great for year 3 stoneage project.
This book was brilliant. It had a good variety of information, in bite size, easy to understand pieces. The pages are bright and inviting and the pictures are very good quality which enhanced the learning and understanding of the texr. If you have to choose one Stone age book, then this is the one. It really helped so much and my daughter got a prize for being in the top 3 of her class.

Great for daughter’s school project
Bought for my daughter’s year 3 school project. Perfect For 8+ years old. Plenty of information with pictures to keep her interested and seems to link well with school curriculum as we have used it weekly alongside her work set for the topic during lockdown school closures. Great buy.

Fantasic book! The best out there for children on the Stone Age!
Highly recommend this book above others, the images and information are clear and concise. Had heard loads of very positive feedback from others before buying it myself - well worth the money! Very interesting content that brings in over 2 million years of human history to an understandable level for both children and adults (not many books can claim that!). Very impressed by how DK have presented the way tools were made in prehistory especially.

Brilliant
I bought this for my 7yr old grandson as he was studying the stone age at school. The illustrations are brilliant. It is a DK book. The quality is the same as previous books, but it is a lot smaller.
