Weller 80W Soldering Iron Kit, Power Grip

Well known make. Very pleased with it. Lights on it are very good.

I’ve had a weller before, and the first one lasted for a few years. Needed a replacement, but this one lasted about 20 mins before the tip totally melted away. Didn’t pick up solder, and left a really awful finish on my stained glass piece I was working on. The handle also got incredibly hot which didn’t feel too safe. Shame to move away from a brand that was good before! Shoddy, cheap and not great value for money.

I bought this to replace an older weller model, it works fine but look after the tips on all weller models as they are expensive to replace

This is a 5 star iron but if you place this in a tip down spring style soldering station, the clear plastic cover melts from the rising tip heat, the LEDs are fine though. Use a tip support and keep horizontal. I have 4 Weller irons because they last a very long time and new tips are easy to purchase as I go through a fair few.

This soldering iron has no temperature control and dramatically overheats making it practically unusable. I am expecting it to burst into flames or stop working any second.. The design is poor making it very difficult to lay down safely whilst it heats up. It comes with a small piece of poor quality sheet metal which you are expected to bend into shape to provide a stand. It is not sturdy enough to hold the soldering iron safely. As others have said I would not trust it in a coiled spring holder because the handle gets so hot. This item fits under the category “Buy cheap, Buy twice”. Absolute rubbish and a definite safety hazard.

This makes soldering at high temperatures easy, temperature remains constant and the iron is weighted well. Used for stained glass work.

Good for larger jobs where more heat is required.

Died within a few days. No longer heats up at all. Hardly used.

Positive 1. Heated quickly Negative 1. The Halo Ring (LED light) is of low power LED strobes not conducive to good lighting. 2. Tip has rough finish and did not tin well 3. It arrived with a UK plug - but I am in Australia - different plug. 4. Money - one can get better iron - for me it was a novelty of a LED Halo ring Recommendation Not recommended. //Nick

Gerät kann ich noch nicht beurteilen, es macht einen guten ersten Eindruck. ABER: Die Ausführung des Steckers ist für UK und passt nicht ohne Adapter in eine Steckdose deutscher Bauart. Dies ging für mich nicht aus der Produktbeschreibung hervor.
