There are repetitive rhyming phrases present in the book, which kids are apt to repeat as the story is being read. This is a book kids can certainly spend much time getting lost in the scenes and wish to read over and over.

Cute rhyming tale for preschoolers and early elementary school beginning readers. Harry is the protagonist who is a happy-go-lucky mouse who enjoys going for a walk in the forest after dinner. Because he is a friendly fellow, Harry enjoys stopping to chat with the animals he meets along his way. One evening, Harry meets a frog who is in trouble and does not hesitate to rescue him. The only thing Harry wants in return is for the frog to remember how good it feels to help someone else in need. Pretty soon, the frog meets a mole who is in trouble. Frog remembers what Harry told him. As the story continues, one animal after another pays a kindness forward. Harry does not realize how important his example has been until the reader reaches the end of the story.Both children and adults will enjoy reading the rhymes, which are repetitive in nature. Perfect for a beginning reader or a teacher to use as a choral reading. The illustrations done by Dimmett are soft and charming; they add a lot to the appeal of the tale.

They will also like and identify with Harry.While walking one day, he encountered a frog in trouble. Harry saved the frog.Harry asked the frog to thank him by helping someone else.And the frog did it with a mole. And he said what Harry said.And the mole did same thing with a bat.Then all came to thank Harry. It all happened because Harry helped just one.Children can and should learn a lesson from this story.

The illustrations have a hand-drawn, hand-painted feel, bright and cheerful, fitting the writing and the story perfectly. Rhythm and rhymes are unforced, language is simple, and the story's enjoyably wise.“You shouldn’t thank me, just help someone too!/That will be better, for me and for you!” is a pleasing refrain as different animals face different dilemmas, each helping the other and moving on. A visually appealing story, with a nicely wise moral, and whimsically lilting rhyme, Harry the Happy Mouse would be a pleasing picture book to give as a gift and to treasure.Disclosure: I found it on a deal.

This is a cute book, but for the price I would have expected the printing quality to be better. The pictures are dull in color and grainy. The story itself is okay. I love the idea behind it, but it's not very well executed. There are a couple instances of "pay it forward" that are cute, but the end is a party for the mouse who started it all. I would have liked to see the story tied together using something other than a reward/incentive for being kind. Some of the rhymes were clunky, and the phrase that is repeated multiple times is not catchy or fun to say so my child and I just got bored. I have to say I was disappointed in this book, perhaps because my expectations were so high based on the glowing reviews.

What I’ve learned from sharing stories with them is that they love pictures, cute rhyming that reminds them of the good things.But, mostly, they love hearing the reader BECOME the living BOOK, by enthusiastically narrating the story.If all you want is a Kindle book to give to your child to entertain them, this is a three star product.If you want a story you can read to them at bedtime, this is a four star book.If, though, you are looking for a tale that you can morph into, this is a great, five star, story that shows them why helping people improves life for the provider, just as it does for the receiver.Five stars out of five.
