Why are the large size clover hooks plastic instead of metal?

Maybe the metal would get too heavy in these larger sizes and cause extra fatigue when crocheting? I have heard that in the smaller sizes of Clover Amour the metal hook extends most of the way through the handle, unlike some other brands.

Does the silicon handle grip work their way off of the plastic hook shaft or is the hook shaft and the grip part bonded together as one piece?

I believe the grip is bonded to the plastic hook shaft. I have never had any problem with the grip part coming apart. I love my Clover Amour Crochet Hooks! They are the most comfortable hooks I have ever used and are the only ones I use now. I prefer the metal shafts on the smaller Clover Amour hooks, though, rather than the plastic shafts. I don't know why they don't make the larger hooks using the same metal as on the smaller ones.

do these hooks come in smaller sizes like I 5.5mm and if not will they be coming out with them?

The 5.5mm is part of the regular clover amour set of metal hooks. There is also a very tiny set for lace work. These have pastel handles.

What letter hook do these sizes correspond with? Ie- J, K ?

J = 6mm, K = 6.5mm Just google for CROCHET HOOK SIZES AND CONVERSIONS
