Such a great Cars encyclopedia!
This is such an amazing encyclopedia of characters from both the Cars and Cars 2 Disney Pixar movies. My 3 year old is currently obsessed with all things Lightning McQueen. He was constantly asking us the names of obscure movie characters that he would see in the background of a book or in the movie. Each time we'd have to Google one, then we'd forget it by the next week when he'd ask again. Now, with this book, the answers are easily accessible - and he can even look them up himself!! Ever since we gave him this book he's wanted to look through it every night. He knows almost all the names by heart, and where each character is in the book. This has been such a huge huge hit.It says it comes with a poster, which is actually the book cover dust jacket. The front of the dust jacket is like a normal book, and the back is the poster. I've included a picture so you can see exactly what the poster looks like. It's long and skinny and made of thick, glossy paper (similar to a normal poster). The pages inside each have 1 or 2 characters on them. Included is a picture, name, and short bio. There are so many cute stories about some of the characters you've never heard of. There was a lot of clever thinking that went into making this book. The book is arranged by groups - all of the Bad Guys are together, all of the World Grand Prix racers are together, all of the Radiator Springs gang is together, etc. There's also an alphabetical table of contents if you're looking for one specific car. This is an amazing, great quality book. I would buy it 100 times over given how much love it's gotten in our household. We like it so much I bought the Planes version too, and that's been a hit as well. Highly recommend!!!!

We LOVE this book!
We got this book for our 2-year-old. I wasn't sure if he'd be a little too young for it then, but he loved CARS so much that I went ahead and got it. It is a big "encyclopedia" type book of all the cars in the CARS movies. It lists each character by groups and tells some fun facts and story lines about each. So it really isn't a "storybook" for a 2-year-old. But he LOVED it! He loves the pictures and the fact that there are soooo many cars! He would read it with us all the time even at that age. Now he's 5, and he still loves it. Now he can read it himself and loves to go through each of the cars and write their names down. If you're not a child but are a CARS fan, this is a great book to have in your collection!I will say that I was surprised by some of the characters not in the book and some lesser characters that were, but overall it's a fantastic compilation and a lot of fun! (Ours also came with a poster!)

Great for Cars lovers!
My 4-year-old loves this. He hasn't seen Cars 2 yet, but already knew most of the bigger characters' names, and was interested in sitting with us and reading this book. He likes to find pictures of particular cars. I am using this book to teach him about indices and tables of contents; it is like an encyclopedia for him. Excellent pictures, nice text, short snippets. Good to read aloud. All around good purchase.

Most complete listing of "Cars" characters
Unlike the "Character Encyclopedia", which is really a diecast model catalog and not all that complete (if they didn't make a diecast, it's not in there), this book does come very close to listing every character, major or minor, in either of the "Cars" movies, including a number that are so minor that I really don't remember them! Each character gets from 1/2 to 2 pages, with at least one cartoon of the character and the same basic description found in the "Character Encyclopedia", at least for those included in that book as well. For the most important characters like Lightning McQueen, Mater and Finn McMissile, several of their "variations" are shown as well, but not as many as included in the "Encyclopedia" (particularly Mater's "dream" personnae). Characters from the short subjects are also not included. The only obvious omission that I could find was Mrs The King, but on the whole, if you only want to get one book that shows all of the characters from the two movies, this is the one to get.

Great but could be a tiny bit better
This book was a great deal and my son really loves it. He was super excited when he first saw it (he's 2). It is really nice quality. The poster was a nice bonus, it is hanging in my sons room. However, this "poster" is really the backside of the book jacket. Still not bad though. My son enjoys looking through the book and pointing out all the cars he knows, especially the ones we have the die-cast versions of (and we have many). The downside is there are some Piston Cup guys we have that are not featured in the book. That's the only reason I'm giving it 4 stars. Overall nice and well worth the price.

I love this book.
Has a lot of the movie characters in it. Paper pages.maybe not good for young child. My grandson got so excited looking for his favorite character that he tore a page.

Great for any Cars franchise fan
My son (2.5 years old) is obsessed with Disney Cars! He has the newer version of this book that includes cars 3, but that means it is edited and many if his favorites from cars 2 are not in it. This was great for him. He gets so excited for all of the characters!!!

Great Quality-Great Price-Great Fun
My older son is big into Pixar Cars; he loves the movie, the short clips, the story books, the calendars, and all things with Pixar Cars. Subsequently, we bought him Meet the Cars, and he sure is a happy camper; the illustrations, each car's respective informational text, and the feel/quality of the book are great! The only drawback is that there seems to be a significant number of what I would call "random cars," i.e. racing or non-racing cars that serve as "extras" while Wingo, Boost, DJ, and Snot Rod, who happen to be among my son's favourites are, for some unexplained reason, missing/absent. Thus, the book is to a lesser extent incomplete. Nevertheless, the great quality, great price, and great fun that this book provides make it well worth it. 5 Stars!
