This might be helpful for people with aphasia
I am a Speech-Language Pathologist and I work with people who have aphasia. I am always on the lookout for small, inexpensive communication aids for my clients. I found this to be very useful. It fits neatly in a pocket. People with aphasia have communication deficits due to a "brain thing". Most often it is due to stroke, but can be the result of a traumatic Brain injury (TBI), brain infection or a degenerative brain disorder. Aphasia can impact communication output systems (getting info from you to the world): talking, writing and making meaningful gestures. it can also impact communication input systems (getting info from the world to you): understanding what people say to you, what you read and how you interpret gestures. The current stats put 1 in 250 people in the U.S. are living with aphasia.

This is NOT a translator!
"Translator" is not an accurate description of this product. To translate means to explain what one is saying in a different language. This has NO COMMUNICATION ability whatsoever. It is just a little booklet of pictures. The ad is very misleading!

Its Tiny!
Like others said, its tiny. Thought it would help communication w/an elderly family member that had a stroke but everything is so tiny. Returned.

Useful in an old way
I gave this picture translator to my kids as they will need it when we move to a country with a language they don't speak. It looks a bit childish, being all in drawings and requiring pointing, rather than pressing digital buttons, but I am sure it will be useful for us grown ups too. It is quite clever really, simply showing what you want rather than translating it, but it does take a little time to find the appropriate picture for it among the many, and it does feel a bit comical and retro in this smart phone age. Nonetheless, it will prove the winner in places where there is no wifi, or ability to recharge batteries, and pointing at nouns and hearing the word for it in a foreign language, is the easiest way to learn it. Which is why I increased its rating from 3 to 4 stars.

Surprised it was so cool!
When this little product arrived I was amazed at the quality and impressed with the design. It comes in a metal magnetic case that's not much bigger than a credit card. Fits perfectly in my wallet. Stays flat with an easy pull open case. Inside it has fold out picture pages broken in to categories and subcategories that are all interconnected in a fold up pattern that resembles plastic picture folders for wallets. It's already been a lifesaver in tough situations as I travel extensively to different countries...no time or desire to learn 6 or 7 languages.
