Very good! The chemistry was on point! Violet's story was simpler better (in my opinion).
Even though I enjoyed the characters in this book, I thought the storyline was a bit complicated with too much going on. I found myself skipping some of the drama to get back to the love story. I would definitely still recommend this writer and series to anyone who enjoys this era of historical romance but I would pre warn about complicating things when providing facts about history and adding a very detailed and (in my opinion) almost unnecessary drawn out conflict between the Hero and his father. I ended up giving the book 5 stars because I still enjoyed the chemistry, the laughter, the love story, and history. I can't forget the escapism. All those elements are the reasons why I read these novels in the first place. So, thank you again Lauren Royal! You helped me get through another rainy day.

4.5 really. Very enjoyable & recommend it, but,
this story takes place in 1677 so I thought that the references to "white gold" in jewelry, and the "blue willow" pattern on dishes was incongruous with the time period. After checking that out, both items came along much later in history. 'White gold" was invented in the 19th century; and 1780 is the earliest reference I can find for the 'blue willow' pattern in England. Otherwise, the book is very well written with good character development and although it is part of a wonderful series, it is an independent story reaching its own conclusion. The steamy, romantic interludes would not suit readers looking for a 'clean' read.Dorothy

Another satisfying read from Lauren Royal
I love reading Lauren Royal. Her characters are always well developed, the plot line more complex than the run of the mill romance, and the end of the beek satisfactory. Although reading here series' entirely would be nice, each book is definitely a stand-alone and they don't leave the reader hanging. I highly recommend not only this book, but any authored by Ms Royal (and I have read several).

3.5 STARS - THOUGHT WE'D NEVER GET TO AN HEA!
l have enjoyed most books in this series and I enjoyed the connection with Ford and Violet more in book 5.This is still good, but too much drama at times, and made me start not to care if they got together, but it did improve. There is above mild descriptive lovemaking.I enjoyed that character's from book 5 made an appearance in this one. But, the author does a nice job of filling in back story so you are not lost, but I did enjoy book 5 better than this one, so don't miss out on a great story. There is some suspenseful moments, but I just wanted this copy to get together, and it was one kink after another thrown their way, that the road to HEA was anything but smooth. I have already purchased Rose and hope it is more in tuned to Violet's story. Also, no cliffhanger - yea!! (ljb)

Not one of her best.
After reading 'Violet,' I was ready for Lily's story. At 16, Lily met Rand, a friend of her brother-in-law. Rand was 20 and knew that Lily was too young for him. Four years later he meets her again and knows that he is still interested in her. Unfortunately, Lily's older sister, Rose is determined that Rand is meant for her and gets Rose to promise to help her land him. The beginning is interesting and I really liked both Rand and Lily. I especially liked Lily's way with animals and Rand's kind way of keeping Rose at bay without hurting her feelings. Then the story started to go downhill for me. I didn't mind that the language and attitudes of the characters was much too modern for the 1600s. I could deal with that until...**********SPOILER ALERT*************Lily's parents (an Earl and Countess) deliberately let her spend time alone with Rand, hoping that they will have sex. Nope, I just can't go along with that one. There is also a discovery and much discussion of a sex manual. Hmm. I don't think girls of that time would sit and an discuss something like this openly (find it and read it, sure). Again, too modern. ***************END SPOILER************ Also, in the beginning of the novel, I really thought Lily's cat, squirrel, and bird were cute. By the end I just wanted them gone. Especially the bird who apparently flew to every place that she traveled. Nope, sorry.Sexual situations will offend some readers

Fun Historical Romance
This is a fun and interesting story. Even some mystery is included. Lily's family is great. It is comical the way animals follow Lily around. An excerpt of the next book in the series follows the ending of this book and gives more story. I found this book to be very entertaining.
