You can use a clear jewelry/metal glue to adhere it together.

Q: What type of metal is used for the clasp?

I don’t know but it’s not an expensive piece. Nice quality for the price. I like that I can glue in favorite quarters with just a tiny bit of space left around the edge that’s filled with glue. I add a split ring and the favorite quarter can be added to a key ring or used as a purse charm if the split ring is added to a lobster claw closure.
