what is the size of pvc pipe that you used this?

Why does this only fit snug into a size 1-3/8” diameter pvc tube?

will this cap work/fit on 1.25" pvc as an end cap? i'm attempting to make dog beds... i would try the external caps but they are quite spendy. thanks
