Works Better Than Your Standard Food-Safe Mineral Oil...
Previously, I wrote a review on another cheaper kind of food-safe mineral oil which you can read by going onto my page. I just moved a few months back and thought I had lost my other mineral oil in all of the hubbub. I have since found the old one and continue to use it on my knives and tools, but, before I found it, I bought Citadel Black Knife Oil. I have to say right off that it is worth the price. Why? It does everything standard mineral oil does except that it leaves a thinner and longer-lasting coat. It actually even keeps out moisture if the tools you coat with it are left out in the morning dew for a few days. When you use a soft cloth to wipe off any excess oil, if you turn a knife or tool towards the light, you can actually see an extremely thin coat of quality oil all over the surface of the metal. I have since switched to using my other mineral oil on my knife handles as Citadel Black is apparently not supposed to be used on wood. From other reviews I have read, most people don't have trouble when they use it on wood, but there must be some reason they say not to use it for your knife scales. Lastly, since this oil spreads so thin, two drops will generally cover a large knife and it stays on the knife in a thin layer even after the knife is put into a leather sheath. As a last minute thought, I also like that the bottle Citadel Black comes in is made from thick glass. It is sturdy and I wouldn't bother worrying too much about breaking it. Also, the lid is a very functional glass dropper, so you don't have to worry about using too much oil or spilling it. I will definitely be buying this again as soon as this bottle runs out.

It does exactly what I wanted it for, and does a good job of it.
I purchased this knife oil because I was having some rust issues with one of my pocket knives, and this oil seemed to do the trick. With a wipe using a clean cloth, a quick application with the handy included dropper and this oil makes my knives silky smooth and gives them a beautiful look as well and I can rest assure that they will last a very long time now. The oil itself absorbs very well into the knife, and only needed a couple drops on each side and because of that, this one bottle should last a very long time. The bottle is made of a very hefty glass, and the minimalistic design of the black box and bottle makes it easy to keep around in the kitchen cabinet. Although I originally purchased it for my pocket knives, I ended up using it on my kitchen knives too since it is food safe, and has no scent or taste that I could notice. Very high quality product in a very nice and easy to use bottle that makes this a definite staple in my home now.

A premium oil in a premium bottle...
A premium oil in a premium bottle with eyedropper. The storage box is also a nice touch. I knocked off one star for the price. This is not a cheap oil. Other knife oils with some similar ingredients are cheaper. I am guessing the glass bottle, eye-dropper and solid card board storage box is part of the reason for the cost. If it were $9-$10 I would give it the fifth star (it would still not be cheap, but closer in price to other knife oils. The good thing about the eyedropper is the control over the amount of oil used, whereas there tends to be less control with plastic bottles resulting in more wastage.

Citadel Black Knife Oil isn't a perfect, but...
I currently have 3 knifes I'm taking care of and help a few of my friends out with their knife. I was looking for something that was low viscosity and both corrosion inhibitor and lubricator. I try to take care of my knifes and use them often at my work. So I wanted to get plenty that I wouldn't run out quickly. I work with hydraulic fluid and use that for a while to take care of my knifes. Citadel Black Knife Oil isn't a perfect oil, clearly its better used on basic kitchen wear then pock knifes. But Its a great lubricator and lower viscosity then the hydraulic fluid I would use. My knifes showed some clear improvement when it came to opening them after I applied the oil. It grips onto the knife well, however it grips onto the metal slightly to well. I find myself trying to spread it to coat the whole blade. Its better then hydraulic fluid with viscosity, but wasn't exactly what I was looking for. The dropper is a slight disappointment, it works well, but be careful to make sure its closed when done. Over all product I would say is a 4 star, but plus one for a actual good box that does well at storing the GLASS bottle.

Don't be put off by the cheap price. This works very very well! I would not hesitate to buy it again
I purchased this Citadel Black Knife oil because I am a collector of knives and swords. I have ordered many different types of sharpeners and knife oil products and it is very rare to find something that suites my needs and provide a nice sharpness without living a gunky-ness to my knives. I am very happy to report that this knife oil has met and surpassed my needs in every way. I was a little bit skeptical of the quality when I saw the price of this. I have purchased many different products that cost significantly more money, and they usually don't meet my needs. When this arrived and I opened it up I could tell pretty quick that it looked like a premium product. I had expected it to come in a plastic bottle, but was happy to find that it comes in a nice glass bottle. After being happy with what I saw when I opened it up, I quickly decided to test it out. It was very simple to use and worked very quickly. It managed to give my once dull pocket knife new life. I can definitely say that I will be purchasing the Citadel Black knife oil from now on!

Take good care of ur knives.
Very nice packaging. Use on knives once or twice a month. Nice product. One issue the eye dropper top had the wrong threads for the bottle. So, will spill out if knocked over or if transporting, bx it won't screw down/on the bottle. Bought a small bottle w/an eyedropper. Works great.
