A sensitive film well and beautifully told.This is also a film that all family members can see.Thoughtful and very well crafted. Thank you to the all the makers involved.

Fantastic Family Movie my 4 yr old loved it

I watched this after reading the brief summary and seeing Geoffrey Rush as the main character. I was hoping for a good feel good movie, and this was it. The scenery was beautiful, the storyline thought provoking, and it was extremely well produced.I was in such awe when it ended, that I had to read the credits after the movie. The movie is based on a story told throughout many generations and it was beautifully and tastefully done. There are some good life lessons to be learned also. The first few minutes had me wondering where the movie was going, but just wait it out and you will get drawn in. Excellent casting. Well done Mr. Rush. I believe you did well in honoring the peoples of this passed down story.

STORM BOY, a First Rate movie. Morgan & I thoroughly enjoyed the story about a young boy living with his father in Western Australia. It was an isolated area and the boy loved the wild Pelicans, especially the one he rescued. We liked the respectful friendship between the Native Australian, the boy, and the father. But we were hurt when the boy could not understand or forgive - until he was an old man - why his father sent him to school when the time came for him to grow up. Yet he always remembered how they had enjoyed & valued the wilderness coastland they had called home. Before he had to leave for boarding school, a complex series of events helped the three of them come together with other people to preserve the beautiful shoreline acres as a Wildlife Bird Sanctuary for the future. Two downsides: it is written as oblivious of merely tolerant of Christianity in matters of life and death, and is completely hostile to hunters, as if there could not possibly be any decent game hunters, and we disagree on both counts. Nonetheless, it's a well told story.

Didn't know what to expect but as the film included great actor Geoffrey Rush and up-and-coming actor Jai Courtney, gave it a view... and was not disappointed. Story centers around a retired business man recalling memories of his time on the beach as a boy where an incident left baby pelican's to be raised. As the birds grew, the boy had adventures with one of the birds, named Mr. Percival. Amusing scenes teaching the birds to fly and fish for themselves, as well as some hard life realities of people with negative ambitions. Film is rated PG, under 2hours, no major cursing, some animal deaths, based on a book of the same name. Beautiful locations and a lovely story of simple friendship between a boy and his bird. Worth a watch.

Hard to find a movie to watch with the family anymore. Back when I was growing up, we could watch a Walt Disney movie. Nowadays, Disney is all about teaching kids it's ok to be a boy or a girl... doesn't matter what your actual gender is! I could go on about the cult that is leftism. But I will say even though this movie could be conscrued as having a liberal agenda, I say that there is nothing wrong with preserving wildlife and more to the point, this was a good story and well filmed.

All the other 5 star reviewers got it right. It's a very clean, friendly movie that's captivating without needing to be filled with incessant VFX, violence, explosions, sexual content, etc.Literally the only thing I "didn't like" about this movie was there were a few time-lapses thrown in there that weren't really necessary and IMO lowered the quality of great film-making and production value.. That's just me coming from a cinematography background and nitpicking though.Overall great movie. Probably don't bother watching if you need all of the traits I listed in my first paragraph to enjoy a film.
