Not 100% certain, but I'm quite sure that it is lead free. Mine is simply beautiful and preforms even better! Mine is of the highest craftsmanship and can't imagine why or where any lead would need to be introduced. One of the most beautiful tools in my kitchen!

Can this product be used to crush down gemstones and other decorative stone?

Highly unlikely. First, it is tiny. About the size of a very small egg cup. But what makes grinding gemstones unlikely is that the interior is polished. They would just slide around. I sent this to the Goodwill.

i washed mine with dawn dish soap and now the shiny surface disappeared, how can I treat it to make the glossy coating again?

Should not have happened using Dawn dish soap. Rinse it off with cold water, then dry with a micro soft towel. I found this Mortar & Pestle too small, and purchased a much larger one. Hope this helps, good luck!

How to season mortar and pestle

Wasn't aware it needed to be seasoned, nor do I see any reason to season it. I just washed it before the first use and it's been great, though it is a bit small.
