SkyStream ONE Streaming Media Player | Android TV Box with 2GB/16GB, SkyStreamTV, 4K, AC Wireless & Ready to Stream Media Center

**Update April 2019**I am approaching one (1) year of ownership on my Roku Ultra this May. I have thoroughly enjoyed my Roku Ultra over the past year!! I have not experienced any of the problems that I had with the SkyStream One box. The Roku Ultra has been very reliable and consistent. I continue to utilize the Skystream One for web browsing only.***Initial Review of Skystream OneThis has to be the worst purchase I have ever made from Amazon. This box worked well for the first 6-9 months or so, but has gotten progressively atrocious! The service support is a joke (of 4 service requests made, I only received 1 response). Besides screen freeze and jitter, the box will restart on it's own 4-5 times per week. When it restarts, it typically has loss the connection with the internet. Additionally, I can not power the box off with the remote when this happens. So, the power cord has to be disconnected then reconnected for the box to come back on with an internet connection. Sling runs absolutely horrible on this box! It constantly freezes and buffers. The Skystream One folks will tell you that it is your internet speed/provider. Well, I have an LG Smart tv in the Living Rm. (No problem), Roku 2 in MBR (certified refurb mind you and no problem) and Amazon Fire Stick son's bedroom (No problem). I find myself having to "force stop and clear cache" in the settings/Apps menu on a daily basis. The jitter and screen freezing occur primarily with Sling. Yes. I have kept Sling updated.Again, the Skystream started out fine in my "Man Cave". Now however, my 11 yr. son routinely offers me his Fire Stick out of pity. My patience has been exacerbated by it's unreliable performance and unpredictability. The 1 yr. warranty expired in May 2018. I placed an Amazon order for a new Roku Ultra over the weekend. I will keep the Skystream One for web browsing only since it is not offered via Roku.

I bought my first one back in March of 2016 to take with me on my move to the Philippines.Cable tv is available here but the American shows I liked we're very limited for viewing and all shows are cencered for language and nudity of any kind.The Philippines is also known for having the slowest internet in all of Asia so I was already skeptical if it would work here or not. We rented a house here and PLDTcopper cable was all that was available in our sub division but it advertised speeds of 15mps the day they came to hook us up the installers said that fiber cable was installed out on the main road but that was 2 blocks away from us so we would have to have copper. About 2 hours later they were putting there ladder from one pole to the next and bringing down fiber cable to our house with speeds of 50 mps . I gave them a large tip for doing it for us but it makes it possible now to use mutiple skystream boxes in our house as long as our cable company keeps the speeds where they advertise them to be.We now have 3 skystream boxes hooked up to all our tv's and they work great. We can get all the shows we liked from the USA and SO MUCH MORE . We have only had one problem that I could not fix , but one call to skystream and they remotly fixed the problem In a matter of minutes .I tried 2 other cheaper brand of Android boxesbefore skystream, they worked for awhile but when an update was needed you were on your own to try to figure out how to do them and then get the box to continue to work and I finally got to where it was above my knowledge.Skystream does there own updstes and all I have to do is click on install and it does it all without you having to be an IT specialist which I am very far from being.I love these boxes and the fact that skystream is there to fix problems if they occur makes a huge difference as far as I am concerned. I would highly recommend Skystream one to anyone wanting an Android tv box, WITH customer support. The amount of tv channels and movie sources are mind boggling, plus once a movie is in the theater is just a matter of days before they are on KODI.

So 2-3 years ago I started investing getting cutting the cord with the Cable company and purchased the SkyStream I. My cable company is also my ISP; was TimeWarner became Brighthouse, now Spectrum. The SkyStream I played a Brighthouse App so I could still watch some cable channels while not paying a rental fee for a cable box. The SkyStream I wireless controller sucked and it was always very hard to enter UID/PW combo's so when I saw the SkyStream III had their new AirMouse I was hooked it was time to upgrade. I love the new air mouse interface and video quality is great BUT the none of the apps I want to use are supported on this device. A call into SkyStream support and they suggest it's not their fault I have to call the app creators. Brighthouse now Spectrum has an app that should allow me to watch cable TV Channels but I can't because SkyStream is not a supported platform (DFE-1009 error). I can see the TV guide and I can see Shows available on demand but I can't play them, Spectrum says it's because the Skystream platform can be "rooted" it's not an official locked down release of Android OS. I call Skystream and ask them why can't they use an Official locked down release of Android and they say that's too hard. OK figure I'll use other apps like NBC's to see old SNL's or last nights evening news; NOPE app keeps crashing/not responding. OK no problem I built a huge library of videos on my PLEX Media Server ahead of cutting the cord but NOPE that app keeps crashing too. I'm ready to return the Skystream device and get a Roku or Fire Stick, as the new Skystream device has been a total waste of my time.
