These sides were originally recorded in Boston in 1951 and New York in 1954. The Boston sides feature Braff with Vic Dickenson, Edmond Hall, and George Wein, while the NY sides have Sam Margolis on tenor. Braff's lyrical though hot trumpet shines brightly here, and the somewhat obscure Sam Margolis is also excellent. "'S wonderful" and "Flakey" are highlights of the CD. This CD is not just for Braff lovers but for small group swing lovers, period. Highly recommended.
