Well, our dog had his 7th birthday in December and in our household, our dog’s birthday is a very big deal, and I decided that one of his many gifts for his birthday would be a brand new bed.He destroyed his first round padded bed when he was a puppy, chewed on it, dug at it, and it went through several washings due to puppy accidents. His second bed was larger, a padded rectangle, but after several years it flattened down in the middle and he was now digging at the sides trying to give the flattened middle a little extra height. Now that he is older and does not destroy his things, I wanted him to have a good, strong and durable bed, and one that would offer extra support for his back and limbs since he is getting older. One of the things that a good supportive bed can prevent is arthritis. Of course, this goes hand in hand with watching a dog’s weight and providing a sufficient amount of daily exercise both indoors and out. However, if a dog sleeps in an awkward position this will cause more problems for their spine and joints and if they are prone to this condition, it will only get worse.I spent a considerable amount of time researching types, shapes, and brands of different dog beds on the internet, visited several pet stores, and even went to Costco to see what they had in stock. I have spent more time researching dog beds for larger dogs than I did for myself when I bought a new bed and mattress for myself a few years ago.I read all the reviews of all of the various large dog beds. The good reviews made me feel confident about making a choice, but then the bad reviews destroyed my self-assurance and it took me a long time to decide.I finally decided on the 52” Bagel Dog Bed for a few different reasons. I liked the oval shape; a round bed encourages a dog to curl up, whereas the oval gives him more room to sprawl out comfortably. The middle is heavily padded, it is spongy and very thick, and I cannot feel the hardness of the floor underneath. I like that the bolster goes completely 360 degrees around, it is an added protective feature against drafts in our winter cold weather.The surface is microsuede, which has a soft ‘velour–like feeling’ and a food and dirt spots come clean easily, when dabbed gently with a slightly damp sponge, and that removes most of the stain. There are two separate zippers, one is inside and around the bolster, it unzips more than ¾ around the bed, and it stops at the short side near the tip of the oval. The other zipper is for the bottom inside padding, this unzips along the longer side of oval, which is almost halfway across the bed. To remove the middle polyester fiberfill padding, (encased in a gauze type of casing) the entire part needs pulling out. Although I have not put this in my washing machine, I would probably throw in some clean tennis shoes to keep the pad filling from clumping. The lowest layer is a waterproof material, both on the inside and out, however underneath the bolster is the same ‘velour-type’ material, which is not waterproof at all.This Bagel Bed has no odor at all, and when we presented his new bed, our Old English sheepdog took a few approving sniffs, carefully climbed onto it, made a few circles and immediately laid down. He loves it! We still kept other bed, so he can have a choice, but there is no doubt that he prefers his new Bagel Bed to his other. There is ample room for him to sprawl out comfortably in different positions whether it is on his back, side or front, and the middle padding is spongy, yet firm and thick with a soft pillowing effect.Our dog has now had this bed for just about a month and I noticed that he is very comfortable in all positions. Sometimes he sleeps completely within the oval interior, and occasionally he sleeps with his head resting on the bolster, (similar to a pillow), for a little extra head support. Additionally, I initially tried out his bed and I did not feel the hard floor, so I know he appreciates sleeping on his soft cushioned bed, evident since he spends less time sleeping on my bed.If you are looking for a dog bed, this is an excellent option, as for our 85 – 90 lb. Old English sheepdog; this is the perfect comfortable and supportive bed and the 52” Bagel Bed adequately accommodates his larger size.

Dear Amazon Shopper,I did not want to shell out $80 for a dog bed, but this was really the only one I tracked down that was both sufficiently large and (seemingly) of sufficiently high quality to accommodate my sister's 80lb German Shepherd (whom I spoil terribly due to her irresistible cuteness). First things first, the dog loves this bed and will stay put when let inside the house (my sister keeps her outside to preserve the furniture, etc, which I find heart-wrenching, but I suppose is necessary). She immediately knew that the bed was meant for her and she enjoys plopping down and sitting with the family in the evenings. Now to the pros and cons.Pros:1 - Large - This bed is very large. It accommodates an 80lb German Shepherd comfortably, which is all I think one could ask for. A significantly larger dog might have trouble, but I suspect you could throw a rug or blanket underneath the bed if dirtying the floor was a concern.2 - Soft - The bed is quite soft and for a dog that is used to sleeping on hard floors, the plush material and faux suede fabric is a huge step up. The dog appears to be quite pleased, so I'm quite pleased.3 - Durable - My sister's Shepherd is a serial chewer. If she thinks it's fair game for chewing on, she will attempt to chew it into subatomic particles. When she first sat on this bed, she began to chew on the fabric. With firm (verbal) discipline, she learned that she was not to chew on the bed, but not before several iterations of her chewing on it for a short period prior to my noticing. Given that this dog can obliterate a tennis ball in minutes, the fabric withstood her relentless chewing for longer than I could have reasonably expected and appears no worse for the wear.4 - Shipping Speed - This may have been a fluke but this thing got to me the day after I placed the order. In fact, for a non-Amazon shipper with a shipping charge of only a few dollars, it got here miraculously fast (before Amazon even notified me that the item had shipped). For all I know the factory or distribution center is ten blocks from me and some guy ran it over on foot after processing my order, but whatever the case, it seems that this item ships very quickly.5 - Machine-washable - While you need a colossal washing machine to pull it off, this thing IS machine-washable. You need to stuff the whole darned thing into the wash to get it clean, but it DOES wash.Which brings me to the cons:1 - Difficult to wash - While it's nice that this is technically machine-washable, it takes an act of God and lots of finger-crossing for this thing to go into and come out of the washer and dryer in one piece. I can't speak yet to how it will hold up after repeated washes, but I plan to update this if the status quo changes.2 - Expensive - There are a lot of cheaper alternatives out there, but arguably none that have the same size and quality of this bed.3 - Accumulates Particles - While this is to be expected and so is hardly a con, this bed has crevices into which dirt and other particles fall into and accumulate, making the bed appear rather dirty/unattractive after your dog sits on it only a couple of times. While I don't particularly mind, it's my sister's dog (so the bed is in my sister's house) and she does seem to mind a bit. That being said, she tolerates it just fine for the dog's sake and its better than having junk accumulate on the floor. Just shake it out every now and again and you should be fine.So that's the long and short of it. It's expensive, but so far it looks like a worthwhile investment if you have a rather large dog.Thank you.

I originally gave this three stars since the first bed I was sent had a busted zipper. I was finally able to connect with a customer service rep who got a new bed sent out to me. This bed is a good quality suede looking material that will hold up with a bigger dog. My pup immediately claimed the bed as his own and seems very comfortable in it. I ordered the 40-inch bed for my 65 lb goldendoodle and its the perfect size for him.

The media could not be loaded. I bought over 10 beds just to get the right one for my dog. This is the 32 inch one and fits perfectly for my 35 pound dog. It was bumpy when I first opened it so I had to adjust it a bit but everything else was great. My dog loves it so much and took a nap for an hour straight in that bed!!

Our dog (Hamish) enjoys this bed. He uses it as an afternoon snoozing location, scratching the surface, turning around twice (clockwise) and then stretching out for 40 winks between eating, playing and going for a second walk. Hamish is supposed to use the bed overnight which he does so signs of when it’s time for bed, however, he continues to be found in the morning sleeping on one of the sofa's. We do not believe this is related to the dog bed, simply his way of turning his nose up at rules …..he knows he is not supposed to sleep on the sofa. His previous bed, the one that this one replaced, lasted for many years. The quality of this bed suggests that it will easily last as long.

La verdad temia mucho en la calidad de la cama. Sin embargo, el producto llego en perfecto estado, las dimensiones son como las menciona en la descripcion, y la cama esta el doble de tamaño que mi perrita, pero ella esta contenta con la cama, no toca el suelo, ya que hay como una gran almohada debajo y esta muy suave (yo me acoste en ella xD).Se las recomiendo mucho y el precio es algo alto, pero creo que lo vale. Tengo dos meses con ella, y sigue como nueva. Lo bueno que estaba en oferta esta cama y la aproveche.

Al principio le costo adaptarse a la cama, pero a los pocos días se amoldó perfectamente a ella. Ahora es su mejor amiga...después de su amo. Producto algo caro pero de buen tacto y gran calidad. El único inconveniente es que no puede extraerse la lona de la base lo que dificulta su limpieza.
