2016 studio album from The Divine Comedy, following 2010's celebrated Bang Goes The Knighthood. The six year hiatus means anticipation is heightened. Since The Divine Comedy's inception in 1989, Neil Hannon has time and again proved to be one of the UK's best and most original songwriters. Foreverland exemplifies this, with references to everything from Catherine The Great to the French Foreign Legion. Neil says of the new record, 'it's about meeting your soul mate and living happily ever after... and then what comes after happily ever after. Get ready for the most historically inaccurate hit of the summer'. While not releasing a record since Bang Goes The Knighthood, Neil Hannon has certainly kept himself busy. He co-wrote a second album for acclaimed cricket-themed project, The Duckworth Lewis Method, composed a choral work for the Royal Festival Hall's newly renovated organ entitled To Our Fathers In Distress, and oversaw the transfer of his musical, Swallows And s, to the West End stage.

Purchased on a whim and happy I did!
Neil Hannon's band apparently isn't well-known in the US. I loved the score for Wonka and decided to check out other music from the composer. This has quickly become one of my favorite albums and I've already ordered several others as well as a few more copies of this album for friends who I know would love it, too!

Very original
Just more of the same ...great song construction and melodic as hell. There are some gems on this release. Who would have thought I would enjoy orchestrated pop music. You won't be dissapointed. I've purchased 5 of Divine Comedy's cds in the last few months.

A New Fine Divine Comedy Album
"Forever Land" contains much of what we know Neil Hannon for when he’s at his best. Musically, the album ranges far from complex compositions in grandiose arrangements for simpler songs in unpretentious and humorous wrapping. The album opens with the great song "Napoleon Complex", which while being a complex composition is also very melodic and catchy. In the same category we find the even more catchy "Catherine the Great", which was also the logical choice for the first single.Another big favorite is "The Rescue" which brings back memories to past great ballads such as "The Certainty of Chance".Other great songs include "Foreverland," "My Happe Place" and "The One Who Loves You".On the lighter genre we find "Funny Peculiar," "The Pact" and "How Can You Leave me on my Own" (the second single).A new fine Divine Comedy album, which perhaps is a little too uneven to match the very best albums from the group (Hannon).

Buy The Deluxe 2-CD Edition
This is an excellent album, but spend the extra money to get the two-disc Deluxe Edition, which includes the brilliant bonus CD "In May." If you have 56 minutes to hear that second disc in one sitting, that is the best way to appreciate this hauntingly moving masterpiece. Each song title is a different date, from December to May, in the life of a man dying of cancer and writing letters to his father. Highest recommendation!

Another Divine Comedy Gem
A beautiful, overdue album from Neil Hannon, whose songs are as warm, funny, and touching as ever. This is a very happy album overall, full of optimism and love. The songs are diverse, with many catchy tunes and clever lyrics. Songs like 'To the Rescue' are beautiful and moving. I will probably buy any piece of music Hannon releases, but it's nice to see that he hasn't lost his touch and in some ways has gotten better with age.

Brilliant! Neal Hannon Does it again
Brilliant! Neal Hannon Does it again! No one can meld pop, comedy, and classical like Divine Comedy! So much more than anything you usually ever hear. Wish he did a musical someday.
