These containers are perfect for all kinds of snacks! I love that the stainless steel is lightweight compared to glass containers but I can still avoid using a plastic container. The lids are definitely silicone, I've squeezed them and there isn't a white stretching area that some people mention with other WeeSprout silicone products (like their compartment toddler plates) which would be indicative of it not being fully silicone. Other reviewers have complained about the lids being hard to close - I will say it takes some getting used to but it is not difficult by any means once you understand how it works. Start on one side with the lid lip under the metal rim and work your way around, it's not hard. Also, these lids are definitely secure and spill proof, which is necessary for toddler snacks and being able to throw these into your bag on the go. I would highly recommend these containers and I will be purchasing them again once I am in need of more snack containers as our family grows. UPDATE: I ordered another set with the metal lids (the silicone lids were not available at the time for whatever reason, which I thought was odd) and at first I liked the idea of all-metal containers because even though silicone is far better than plastic, it is still a synthetic material. However, the metal lids are not useful at all and I'm finding myself avoiding using the metal lids. The small lid is so hard to get off of the container while the large lid barely stays on and basically falls off if you turn the container with crackers in it upside down and shake a little. I'm finding that the metal lids are very unreliable and more stressful to use than the silicone lids (which are straightforward, secure, and easy to use). It looks like they have reverted back to only offering the silicone lids, which is great. Avoid the metal lids.

Update: The metal lids came loose but they kindly sent me a new set with silicone lids and they workd perfectly fine! Happy with customer service. This set of all stainless steel food containers is sturdy and aesthetically pleasing. It's a great alternative to plastic containers for kids' snacks. However, the lids tend to come loose after a few uses, making them less than ideal for leak-proof storage. I wish the lids were screw-on for better security.
