Great starter set
I wanted the orange one originally but this set made more sense since it comes with a giant extra white paint tube among other things, and you use white the most of all the paints. Some of the paints are very opaque while others are more thin. This is a great set to start with. I have nicer paints but I'm not a professional artist, I barely know how to paint so I end up using a lot of my nice paint and running out quickly since I make a lot of mistakes or don't know what I'm doing, so since this comes with a lot it's great to just practice with it and use it up first. I've been enjoying it a lot and it looks so cute. I usually mist it with water before I'm going to start painting, and once I finish I mist it a bit with the mildew spray the set came with to avoid mold (as a lot of people struggle with mold when they don't treat wet paint sitting for a long time in a container). My main complaint is that it is not an airtight container, so what I have to do is I just place my artbox ontop of it when I'm not painting to apply pressure. It's been working so far. Also, when I first opened them I did need to mix them since the binder separated from the paints, and this does still happen from time to time, but for me mixing is a bit theraputic and enjoyable to do so I don't mind. I always have a plastic spatula to mix the paints or to take some paint to use out of the containers to not mix my paints as some people do and don't mind, but I mind and don't want them to mix by dipping my brush in multiple colors. Getting paint out with a spatula doesn't take much time and I quickly wet it in water and wipe it on my painting rags and get different colors very quickly. If you have been hesitant to get this I'd say go for it. It's fun and cheap and easy to use and you don't have to be scared to waste more expensive paints. I'd even say I rather get the cheaper box with 18 colors because you don't need all the extra colors in this one, but I did get this mostly for the mildew spray so I guess this set makes more sense, and also for that extra tube of white paint.

EXCELLENT GOUACHE SET which includes hard to find Moisturized Mildew Gouache Spray.
I purchased this set for someone a few weeks ago as a gift. I was highly impressed with it. I enjoy using gouache. I have a few friends I thought might enjoy it as well. The gouache itself is decent. If you're familiar with gouache, you know a little goes a long way. Often, since white is mixed with other colors, there's too little white. This set takes care of that with a decent-sized pouch of extra white. The set includes a palette/paint knife, some brushes, pencils, an eraser, two small canvas boards, some water cups (sort of weird but usable), and finally, Moisturized Mildew Gouache Spray, which is nearly impossible to get in the US. As you might know, some gouache grows mold/mildrew over time, but it's fine to scrape off the moldy areas and use the paint below. The addition of the Moisturized Mildew Gouache Spray was what convinced me to buy these sets over other sets that were offered, partly because it's one of the few ways to purchase it in the US. The other items can all be purchased separately. When I can find the Moisturized Mildew Gouache Spray it costs about $15 per bottle including shipping. At the time of this review, Amazon does not sell it nor does it sell a similar spray. While you can purchase gouache in cake form in tins, or in tubes, the jelly cups are fun to use.I have some of the larger-sized sets which are heavy and clutzy. If you don't mind mixing and layering paints, which is actually what gouache is all about, the larger sets are redundant (although fun to have) because you can mix almost any color yourself.I purchased two sets originally as gifts, and then a third set. I already own all the components of this set, but purchased them individually. This set is a nice way to get everything you need to start painting right out of the box. However I do recommend watching a few YouTube videos if you've never used gouache before. You also might want to purchase an instructional book - Amazon has many that are very helpful.(I usually reorganize the order of the gouache cups before taking off the covers. Then I uncover them starting with the colors in the middle and working outward. This makes it easier to uncover them all without getting paint on your fingers. If you start on the outside rows, and work inward, there's a good chance of making a mess).

Not Just For Beginners
This is a great set for beginners, providing all the brushes and equipment you need to get started. But there are enough extra colors that more seasoned gouache painters will be happy, too. The gouache is creamy and covers well, or can be watered down for more sheerness, as is normal with gouache. The box which holds the gouache doesn't close as well as I would like; the cover bends slightly, leaving a tiny space where air gets in and dries out the paints. I deal with this by opening it up every so often and spraying lightly to keep it hydrated, even if I don't plan on painting. Since white seems to be what most painters use the most of, I really like that they supply a refill of white gouache. Overall, I really like this set, but wish the lid fit more tightly.

Great set to begin your Gouache journey
I am a watercor artist and I’ve been wanting to try gouache for a while, but professional sets can be quite expensive. When I came across this watercolor gouache set, I figured, why not give it a shot? I’m actually quite happy with it overall. The paint behaves much like watercolor but has a strong opacity, depending on the color. Some shades are fully opaque, while others are more semi-opaque. To test this, I created a color swatch by writing in dark black ink and painting over it—you can see which colors provide full coverage and which allow some transparency. There are a few drawbacks. The lid is not airtight, so to help keep the paint from drying out too quickly, I use the included palette and place it inside the container for a slightly tighter seal. Also, opening each individual color was a pain—messy and time-consuming. And while the set comes with collapsible water cups, they’re not the best quality. I’d recommend using a mason jar instead.Despite these minor issues, I think this is a great starter set for anyone curious about trying gouache. The paints perform well, especially for the price. I’d give it 4 out of 5 stars!
