After three decades of surviving on whatever plates remained unbroken, I decided it was time for a serious upgrade. So, I did what any reasonable person would do—I got two sets in different colors (because why not?). First impressions? Gorgeous. The reactive glaze gives them that unique, handcrafted look, and the mix of red and sapphire makes my dinner table look like an art gallery. Every meal feels fancier—even if it’s just takeout pizza. Functionality? They hold food like champions. They’re sturdy (weighing in at what I can only describe as heftier than expected), and they survive the microwave and dishwasher like seasoned warriors. Potential issue? They’re heavy. If you’re used to lightweight dishes, these might feel like you’re lifting weights just to serve dinner. Also, thanks to their unique glaze, no two plates are exactly alike—which I consider a feature, not a bug. Would I buy it again? In a heartbeat. After 30 years of mismatched chaos, I finally have a dinnerware set that sparks joy and resists breakage. ________________________________________ Final Thoughts: The Great Kitchen Upgrade of 2025 Between the badass silverware, the bulletproof glasses, and the museum-worthy plates, my dining experience has officially leveled up. No more sad, mismatched pieces from the past. Everything looks cohesive, elegant, and—dare I say—grown-up. Would I recommend this combo? Yes. If you want to feel like you have your life together (even if you don’t), this is the way to go.

First, the dishes were beautiful. Very heavy and good quality and we really love them. They were packed very well too. We ordered two sets and unfortunately two of the dinner bowls in one box did not make it even though the boxes looked fine. But FYI if you reach out to the company they will basically tell you this is not covered by warranty, but if they happen to have a replacement in the warehouse they will send a complimentary replacement, but do not guarantee there will be one sent. If they cannot their solution is to return the WHOLE SET. It says they would try and resolve in 14 days from the time I replied with pictures, item numbers, etc....This dinner set was like 32 carefully packaged individual pieces. The bowls were the last thing unpacked. There is no way we would be able to get it all packaged again and back in the box. Hope I don't have to just live without the bowls I thought I was gonna have for my family. I will update if they do a replacement. Update: Company reached out very quickly once the info they requested was recieved. It was only maybe a week before they FEDEX shipped me two replacement bowls and man they packed them very very well. This company's customer service is top notch!!

The Gibson Soho Lounge Square Dinnerware Set is a standout on the table. The red reactive glaze gives each piece a unique, artisanal look that feels both modern and elegant. They hold up pretty well to daily use, and the stoneware feels solid in hand. That said, treat them with a little TLC—like any glazed dinnerware, they can chip if handled roughly. I’ve had no issues so far, and they’ve added a bold splash of color to my kitchen. Great set for everyday meals or when you want to impress guests.

Well overall I am pleased with the set and would recommend it to most people with a few exceptions. Quick look: Pros- attractive, colors match photos, affordable and they have a slight Asian flair to them. Cons- they're heavy, not break resistant at all and they're glazed so they're not dishwasher/microwave/oven safe. It seems to be (at a glance) a really sturdy set. There weren't any major glaze defects and the bottom rims of the pieces where surprisingly smooth compared to most of the other stoneware I looked over (I would still put some sort of buffer between the bowls and plates when stacking). As for the resilience of the set that's yet to be determined. I wouldn't recommend this set to anyone that has kids or if that person is rough with their dishware. If you're a dishwasher only person go with Corelle or another glass dinnerware. No matter what brand you go with for stoneware a dishwasher with ruin the finish over time and I wouldn't recommend putting them in the microwave/oven. Other things to consider-- the set does NOT come in retail packaging, so it's not a good gift idea appearance wise in the original box. AND there wasn't a stitch of protection for the set. Not one layer of foam or bubble wrap. You could easily get a your set(s) in lots of little sharp bits. Amazon offered me free return shipping and a full refund if this happened so you're safe there but I would count on Amazon for a last minute purchase.
