Little Women Audio CD – Unabridged, February 8, 2011

I started to read this book to my daughters. As an elementary teacher, I love a good read-aloud! However, Little Women was written so long ago, the speech patterns are so much different than the way we speak today, I felt like I was forever correcting myself as I read.Then I realized how much more enjoyable it would be to hear it read smoothly and perfectly and ordered this copy! 14 disks long and we’re still on disk 1. Not disappointed!

This book is very well read but we found it hard to follow the characters when it is being read to us. We got it for our 7 year old and she was clearly not interested. We will save it for when she is a little older. It takes a bit of practice for this visual generation to learn how to "listen" to books.

I purchased it for my sister and she is thoroughly enjoying it. Since she is blind and her only pleasure is hearing television and books on tapes or CD. She listened to this one over and over again.

Lovely story

このCDはKate Readingというアメリカの女優・声優が吹き込んでおり、アメリカ英語の発音でとても聴きやすい。彼女はオーディオ・ブック部門でイヤホーン賞を３度受賞し、オーディオ・ファイル誌は彼女の朗読を「世紀（勿論20世紀）の声」と讃えている。CDは15枚組で紙のケースに入っているため、CDホルダを買って保存したほうがいいかもしれない。各CDは約14~15トラックで構成されているが、CD1の第1トラックは原書のイントロダクションの音読であるから、原書も買いたい人はイントロダクションのあるものを買うといいだろう。本文の朗読はCD1の第2トラックから始まる。業者によるが送料込みで2400円程度の値段だから、1枚160円程度の勘定。これはお得！原書の英語自体そんなに難しくないし、訊きやすい朗読だし、英語耳を鍛えるのにはいいと思う。『赤毛のアン』の英語の難しさ、朗読の速さはなかなか大変。英語教材としてもいいCDだと思う。
