High temps when in an ssd nvme enclosure.
I like the brand Kioxia and their products. However this was an exception as I had to return it. I put the drive in an external enclosure and used my phone to format it. When transferring 30GB data it was blazing fast but the temps just shot up quickly. Not just warm but hot to even touch. Soon enough it just stopped transferring due to overheating. After multiple tries I got the data transferred but overheated thrice. I decided to get the data back and return it, for which I had to remove the cover of the enclosure and stick it to the drive to dissipate heat and keep it cool. Luckily got the data back. There is supposed to be a firmware update from kioxia. Their utility just did not detect the drive after scanning even though it's seen under their 'systems' information. I don't think it's worth the trouble. I might as well go with the tried and tested P3. The transfer speeds were great and I was disappointed to be returning it.I don't think it was the enclosure (yes, with thermal pads) or anything else that caused it. It was in all probability the drive itself.
