Simple chicken run but wow you can dress it up and its a chicken palace!
We bought this large chicken run to add protection for our chickens from weather and critters. There are many critters who would love a chicken dinner. We have so much wind here so we made sure to anchor this structure to 4” x6” beams at the foundation. Then we added strong roofing panels around the base for added protection. Then we added some rock found on our property to put inside that helps secure as well, but probably isn’t necessary. This outdoor coop is a snap ( literally) to put together but the chicken wire takes more time for sure. Be sure to pull it tight if you’re putting a tarp over it as it will reduce wind flapping when windy. One slight disappointment was the large gaps in the door because of smaller critters able to get in like weasels etc. but we haven’t had this problem so far or any issues at all. Our young chickens love the run and the little chicken house inside as well. Everyone tells us our chickens are spoiled…yep they are❣️

This coop is very Meh 🫤 not total garbage but not great either!
I am giving a generous 4 star review just because of the ease of assembly when it comes to the frame itself. I had very little issue putting it together without assistance while my husband was at work. The “chicken wire” is very flimsy and not true chicken wire it’s much thinner wire. Also the tarp is complete garbage and did not even last two months in east Texas summer weather, also one of my roosters likes to climb on top of it to do his competitive crowing with my other rooster and ripped a huge hole in the tarp the first week just from sliding down the tarp as he was climbing down. The size is accurate as far as I can tell and the frame is a decent enough quality that I don’t count this as a total loss. But be prepared to buy new wire and a better tarp. Also I suggested burying your wire around the bottom because there is about an inch gap all the way round the bottom which allows for easy digging for predators.

Eight months and still pleased with run
November 2024. Update. A predator, possibly a raccoon or a bobcat (we see one out back) breached the run between the gate and that opening. We solved the problem by adding one more Butterfly latch to the gate about 18 inches up. We found the butterfly latch online at at gate replacement parts store. Had we added this in the beginning it would have saved 3 of my sweet chickens! We purchased the large run with the 1.26 stronger frame to use as a chicken run. We never planned on using the chicken wire so we wrapped every inch of frame with black hardware cloth. This absolutely strengthend the frame. Wrapping the frame was a LOT of work but has really paid off. We let the cloth flow past the ground about 6 -8 inches and grass and roots have now grown over frame making it almost predator proof. We anchored some of the wire to the ground but honestly just stepping on the hardware cloth and pressing it into the frame was probably enough. We've had no predators breach this run and we do have nightly visits from raccoons to our bird feeders. Eventually I did stake some iron rods beside the door frame for fear predators could easily pass through this gap. The door was very difficult for my husband to make fit but since he's no carpenter we've made do or I would prefer some type of solid door. I do like the idea of filling the door gaps with pool noodles as one reviewer did. It might not stop large raccoons from entering but it's worth a try and would certainly keep chickens inside even though none of mine have ever escaped. I'm still very happy with this run and would buy again EVEN though I hate the thought of covering another run with hardware cloth. It was not easy!

New door design is horrible, don't waste your money
We bought one of these a year ago and it was perfect, so we bought another one this year. They updated the design for the door, which is now horrible. $260 for a chicken run that has a door with a bottom rod too short causing it being literally impossible to square the door in the hole and leaving a large gap on the bottom right - perfect size for a smaller chicken to run through or something else to squeeze through to get inside. We put a kitty litter container in front of it to block it. Thinking we got a faulty door, I reached out for a door replacement. Same issue with the other door that they sent. Their solution after that was to add weather stripping (which a chicken would eat??) or to add shims (which doesn't even make sense with their design). My husband ended up having to cut a new rod to make it work. Not safe for your chickens.New latch is also horrible (in part because of the new door not being able to square up in the gap, it BARELY sticks out far enough).Still easy to assemble at least.Don't pay this amount of money for something you need to jerry-rig yourself just to make the door not let the chickens out.

Disappointing
I purchased this same item from Amazon before, but this one has smaller diameter tubes and is not nearly as heavy duty. I am disappointed that I ordered the same item, now the value is not nearly the same as the previous one.
