Interesting combination of ingredients. No noticeable effects w/o food. Taken w/food? Definite but subtle calm, only really noticeable upon reflection. I'll be trying this again.

I have to admit I knew nothing about the primary ingredient, Zembrin, before finding this product. Zembrin is a patented, clinically studied ingredient from the South African succulant plant Kanna which has been used for thousands of years. Zembrin looks very promising and intriguing, especially since it is still not well understood how it works. Experiences I have read put 25mg - the dose included here, at the low end of dosing for its positive, mood enhancing, elevating effects, which many have claimed are strongest in the first few hours after taking, but with a lingering "glow" effect for the rest of the day. This supplement also includes other ingredients, noorotropics, to complement its effects. Holy Basil, of the mint family, known as The Queen of Herbs, is known for lowering Cortisol, the "stress hormone", which, at high levels, is known to have all sorts negative effects on the body, including depression. Holy Basil is also known to help balance dopamine and serotonin, thus helping to improve mood. Rheishi is a known noorotropic being studied for its positive effects on anxiety, fatigue and depression. Lithium ororate is a dietary supplement used for mood stabilization, and can help promote growth of new neurons as well as be protective against the damaging effect of high levels of cortisol on existing ones. And, something I find very interesting, lithium improves mitochondrial function, increases cellular energy output and encourages damaged mitochondria to be recycled which contributes to overall health and longevity. Lots of reasons to give this a try. Solaray is a company whose products I have come to trust after finding their Tart Cherry Triple Strength extract which is the only tart cherry extract standardized to 3% anthocyanins I know of, and it has worked very well for me for pain relief. I expect no less from this supplement regarding elevated mood, clarity in thinking, etc.

I started a month ago along with the Women’s Hormones, same brand. I’m stopping the hormone capsules because my symptoms have increased. But perhaps this mood is helping. I will update in another month.

Solaray is such a good company: I use their vitamins and supplements on a daily basis. They're a reputable American brand that's been in business since 1973 and is widely available in natural food markets and supplement stores. So far I've tried two supplements in the Sharpmind line: Focus and Energy. Mood is, for my particular emotional needs, the best so far. (This does NOT mean that it's the best objectively--you may find that Focus works best with your constitution, of course. Or Energy. Or Stress. This is just for me.) Holy basil and reishi mushroom are great for mood support. They're easily researched, and also good for blood sugar and overall wellness. Zembrin and lithium orotate were the new ingredients to me, and I only looked them up after trying this supplement and feeling so calm and at peace. Lithium orotate is NOT the prescription lithium used for bipolar disorder, which is lithium carbonate. Lithium orotate is used in tiny doses (5 mg in this supplement) and is used to penetrate the neurons to promote a healthy mood. It promotes a positive mental outlook, supports detoxification in the brain, and boosts neurotransmitter activity. Finally, I was interested in looking up the supplement Zembrin. Zembrin comes from a plant used by the indigenous people of South Africa. It helps cognitive function, improves mood, and reduces anxiety. Zembrin dot com has a bunch of information to explore, as well as other sites. For me, this supplement is magic. I feel at peace, positive, and relaxed. The price point is high at nearly $1 per day, but it seems worth it to me. I would also trust sourcing of an indigenously-used plant from a company such as Solaray, as they are ethical. I especially appreciate that this supplement is vegan and uses vegcaps. Highly recommended!

It's impossible to know how much is this working and how much is placebo effect, which is the reason I gave it four instead of five stars. It seems to help my mental clarity and mood. I've had to take a pain med at night that leaves me very fuzz-brained the next morning. I've been taking this and feeling much more clear-headed. It may also be helping my mood.

Solaray is a brand, when in doubt, I gravitate toward and trust. This one is interesting because is labeled for "mood" yet some of the ingredients are ones I use to stabilize white blood cell issues. Holy Basil is great for sore throats and reishi is great to lower eosinophils. This is one of those formulas that does not treat just symptoms but almost cuts to the root of the matter. Another way I use this is for hypnic headaches. They sometimes call those "alarm clock" headaches. I started getting them recently. Waking up with my head pounding between 1am and 3 am. I researched natural treatments and two options were caffeine before bed or lithium. These have 5mg of lithium. 5mg, is a good dose, but my research also led me to see that this dose is a a wee high for many. I halved mine. For the first night in a many nights, I woke up with no pounding headache. I slept 9 full hours. I text my husband one word that morning. "grateful". I am always grateful to find alternatives to big pharma. I believe it is worth a whirl and there is no regrets in having it in our arsenal.

Everyone responds to supplements and medications differently, and I find this especially true in supplements designed for mood support. In me personally, most of them don't work very well or much at all. Until this. THIS! This is one of the most fantastic OTC supplements I've found for mood support. Immediately after finishing the bottle, I added it to my subscribe and save to ensure I always have it on hand. With Solaray's SharpMind, I've noticed a very not subtle increase in patience, elevated mood and reduced frustration. I understand that the placebo effect is real, and that this might be working so well for me because I want it to work well for me. Also, since everyone responds differently to supplements, you may not receive the same benefit. But for me, this is the best.
