It seems to be of good quality construction
Looking forward to many years of not having to walk back and forth to my targets!I plan to use the scope to aid in sighting in my rifles at the range. It seems to be of good quality construction, and the clarity of the optics is very good. It's small and light enough to fit comfortably in my range bag. No issues there. The housing feels well constructed, and the rubberized pieces are well made. The rubber protective casing seems to work well, and I have no concerns about damage due to metal-to-metal contact. The scope will remain in its carry case for transport back and forth, however. The focus and zoom rings have a nice smooth operation. This is my first spotting scope, so no basis of comparison to other brands, but it feels just as smooth, if a bit stiffer, than the zoom ring on my Nikon telephoto lens. Definitely feels like a good quality piece of gear. The tripod seems appropriate for the size/weight of the scope. Solid construction. Definitely prefer metal components over plastic. This scope would make for a nice portable stargazing scope to take on camping trips.I will definitely recommend this scope as a gift or purchase to my shooting friends. No difficulty in figuring out the controls, although I was initially (first use) confused as I assumed the zoom function would be on the barrel, and the focus on the eyepiece. No bearing on functionality though.Price seems fair. Again, I have no basis of comparison, but this seems like a reasonably priced quality piece of equipment. The item description on the Amazon product page definitely influenced my decision to buy this scope. The explanation of the importance of quality optics versus the over-emphasis on "zoom" marketing hype lent credibility to the ad, and made it seem as if the scope was thoughtfully designed with an eye towards quality.

Perfect size, well built and great value
Just received my Blackbird Spotting Scope. First impression upon opening the box is how small it is. Was concerned that it was too small but after setting it up and looking at the landscape and some wildlife around our house there is no concern on the size. Large enough for what I need and yet small enough to not take up too much space and makes it very easy to carry with me whenever I go places. The zoom is perfect and the focus ring are both very smooth and easy to use without losing what you were looking at and have to readjust the scope. The unit itself feels very sturdy along with the metal tripod. I would not consider banging it around but it feels like it would stand up on travels and use. I love the coating used on it which makes it less likely to get dropped from slipping out of my hands especially in back country where conditions can get a bit messy.I took it out of the box and was able to use it fully without the instructions which I did read after playing with it for a while. Hands on kind of guy to see how things work first. Same as asking for directions. I purchased it for going to the shooting range but have not been able to get there yet. That comes next week end but I have no concerns that it will provide me with what I wanted. Not to have to walk 50 or more yards each time I shoot to see where my shots hit. All in all it is a great little scope for exactly what I need, the price is good for what you get, the scope is built to last and be used, I would recommend this to friends and I actually have a friend in mind to gift one to. Great product.

How do you like the size
How do you like the size? The size seems fair, but my personal taste is a bigger scope on the front lense piece. The size is fine but I would like to see the front lense bigger to get a wider viewing angle. The weight? The weight is perfect for carrying. I would not change it.Does the unit feel well built? The unit feels rigid and strong. It also feels like top notch quality material.Do you like rubber armor casing? Yes, I do like the casing that its rubberized, it give me a good grip and in cold weather the unit can be used without gloves.Does the focus ring feel smooth? The ring is smooth and moves well. Its not too soft like other scopes. I would make the ring a bit more rigid to make if feel like having more control. Are you happy with your purchase? Yes, I am happy with the purchase. I plan to use it everyday. How does the tripod feel? The tripod feels sturdy and rigid. I would like to have the tripod a bit taller built out of the same material.Do you like that it's metal or would you have preferred plastic? I would say plastic but with a metal feel, one that feels on the heavy side and not cheap feeling. What other uses, could you imagine for this scope? I plan to use a sporting events, bird watching, family scavenger hunts, hunting and general photography. I also purchased the phone mount.Do you think it would make a nice gift? Yes it would. But to make it more cross sellable, I would make it with other skins. For example, green for military folks, dark blue, pink tones for ladies. It would make a great give for kids to do astronomy work, so the scope has to be kid friendly in colors and patterns. Was it pretty easy to figure out? (the focus, the zoom, the tripod) We're the included instructions helpful? Yes, I did not even read the manual.Does the price seem fair? The price seems fair to me.
