Class Struggle In Africa

Your Afrikan intellectual scholarship reading list isn't complete without this book!
This book is extremely powerful in pointing out the class struggles within the revolution as it pertains to the black/African populace. Its a timeless piece of work that simplifies a lot of the complex concepts that Fannon spoke of in Wretched of the Earth. Were in 2019 and everything in this book is as relevant today as it was when Nkrumah wrote it. I can't imagine any black scholar not having read this at some point. This should be taught in schools everywhere.

For every black person in the world!
The content of this book is a major element of a subject matter that we all need to know about regarding what has been going on regarding Africa for a long historical moment. It's a small book, but loaded with a lot of high caliber relevant socio-economic and political ideas that we must really master about. I usually show a high gratitude to our father Chairman Mao for leaving us the blue prints on how to go about industrialising the developing world. I'm enthused about this book for similar reasons. It collected the main socialist points, and exudes the richness of the times they were living in when it comes to the high intellectual activities available back then in the 60's and 70's of which we're trying to re-create in this day and age. ... with the ultimate objective of creating a world that gave us the Bolsheviks with their unparalleled scientific intellect and far sightedness. It's extremely rare to find another African to compare him with. I feel redeemed after reading this book for having his statue erected at the AU headquarters, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia after much struggle. Thank you.Abiy Eshetu

Review of Class Struggle in Africa
Class Struggle in Africa provides an excellent analysis of the various economic classes in Africa and a historical analysis of the development of these classes. In addition, Nkrumah provides a solution to problem of neo-colonialism and other manifestations of capitalism. This book will be of interest to anyone seeking to understand the class reality of Africa today.

Poor Throughout
Kwame Nkrumah's ideas are as much a failure in theory as they are in practice. His book, like much communist literature, goes from describing the problem to insisting on communism as the only solution, typically with weak supports. One case in point is his insistence that the military should be under the control of the communist party of the country, without explaining why he seems to belive this would be better than the military being non-partisan.In his government, Nkrumah attempted to put several of these ideas into practice, and Ghana suffered. When the expected backlash happened, he removed press freedoms and implemented a one-party dictatorship. He was ousted in absentia to thunderous applause.
