Trials And Tribulations Involving Money/Career
This Price Check film features the characters of Susan Felders (Parker Posey), Pete Cozy (Eric Mabius), Sara Cozy (Anna Parisse) and the following other characters in the Price Check film: Lila (Amy Schumer), Jim Brady (Matt Servitto), Cartwright (Stephen Kunken), Ernie (Cheyenne Jackson), Eddie (Chakrabarti), Todd Kenner (Remy Auberjonois), Bennington (Edward Hermann), Doug Cain (Josh Pais) etc. The beginning of the Price Check film shows the character of Pete Cozy receiving vital news that is going to dramatically indirectly affect the circumstances of him and his wife Sara Cozy. Pete Cozy then realizes that his life has the potential to change even further after Susan Felders offers him a career and money opportunity that would be far from easy to pass up. The character of Susan Felders is portrayed in both a good and far from good light when some of her career achievements are discussed showing how both her talent and ambition have paid off, however Felders abrasive side is also foreshadowed in her treatment of certain male employees at the beginning of the film. To be fair, Posey is just playing with careful craft her role of Susan Felders and vital plot glimpses are given when it is shown how it is determined which employees get to stay longer at a particular company and which ones may have to find new career pastures regardless of how ready they might be. The ending of Price Check is definitely different from what I expected however I found both the film and the conclusion of Price Check better than I expected.

Good for the first half, but gets a little confusing later on.
*Spoiler Warning*I re-watch this movie now and then because I am inspired by what a force of nature Parker Posey is in it. I love the first half, when she sweeps into the office and simultaneously terrifies and inspires everyone, pushing them to accomplish more than they ever have. I also like seeing a female character who's not a people-pleaser and aggressively speaks her mind. However, halfway through the movie everything starts to go downhill.First off, I'm convinced they chose Eric Mabius to play Pete Cozy because his blandness wouldn't compete with Parker Posy being the star. But I'm always confused as to why she wants him to be her sidekick, given her high standards for work ethic. He is completely unmotivated and she literally has to give him a pep talk to take the VP position, which comes with a 40k raise. This "wet sandbag" is the best choice out of the whole office, really? Ooo-kay.Also, I don't understand why he had an affair with her. He was married with a cheerful and attractive wife, they had a pretty happy marriage, AND she was pregnant again. But as soon as he got to LA he was flirting with one of Susan's friends, and when she asked him to impregnate her he just goes "duhhhh okay", as if she merely asked him to run to corner store for a pack of gum. Then he brazenly continued the affair when getting back, shamelessly, and I keep thinking "Why?" It reminds me of what he said when his wife asked him about having another baby: "I don't think I have any say in the matter." That's his attitude the whole movie, just feckless and swayed by whatever anyone tells him to do. And it's really hard to find a redeeming quality in such a terrible character when they're too shallowly written to understand their motivations.

Parker Posey does NOT save this film
Like many other reviewers, I love Parker Posey. I've seen almost every film she's been in. (Not so much the TV shows she's appeared in).But Price Check was disappointing. The story was a mix of boring and unpleasant (because of the characters' poor moral choices). Posey's character was unsympathetic. Posey can sometimes make a bad character sympathetic, but she has nothing to work with here.Judging by the film's description (a corporate setting), I thought this would be another Clockwatchers -- my favorite Posey film. But Price Check lacked Clockwatchers's humanity and humor. Price Check is NOT a comedy. (Or, if it's meant to be a comedy, it's not funny.) It's been a while since I saw this film, but as I recall, this married guy expects a promotion. Instead, Posey is brought in to be his new boss. Then she pressures him to sleep with her, despite the man being married. A dark film with an unpleasant ending.Seems that most of Posey's film can be divided into two categories -- great films (e.g., Dinner At Freds , and Henry Fool , and The Daytrippers , and Clockwatchers), and crappy films that are only worth a look because she's in it (e.g. The Love Guide , and The Misadventures of Margaret , and Spring Breakdown ).I guess when you're in as many films as is Posey, some of them are bound to be duds. There is, so I've heard, a shortage of great scripts. Thus it's to be expected that a professional actress, who wants to keep busy, doesn't always have the option of picking a great script.Price Check is only worth one star, but I'm giving it another because it has Posey.

Quirky and Thought Provoking
Imperfect people living daily in an imperfect world doing better than they'd expected. Parker Posey in an over the top performance puts on a clinic of a person in life who challenges an otherwise sleepy office to go beyond their self imposed boundaries to exist on a higher level. I'm some ways, this movie asks the viewer, "what are you doing with your life?" You can take it from that point.

Didn't Meet Expectations
Here is a comedy-drama that didn't quite live up to being either a comedy or drama. There are funny moments, and dramatic moments, but the film never found it's bearing and left me wondering if it could have been better.Parker Posey's character is offbeat, funny, and spot-on for an over the top, not listening to you type of power-driven manager/executive. She does her best to carry the film, and does most of the time, but it's the poor writing that keeps it from making it memorable. The ending is disappointing. Without spoiling the film, we jump ahead to the future and are left to assume that loose ends are tied up and problems resolved nice and neat. However, it is a cheap way to leave us wondering: is that it?
