majick mushrooms
When I learned I had diabetes, i of course, went to wikipedia, then google, etc and lo and behold, i learned about maitake mushrooms, a delicacy in the east, it happens to grow here in the northeast [USA] on oak trees, but i'm not about to go traipsing about in the woods, not to mention i ALREADY have chronic lyme disease and our 'woods' are full of deer ticks, its carrier!Well, the lyme disease has been a real pain...literally... lots of pain and often, and blurry head, etc, and fatigue, weakness, compromised immune system - deeps spells of intense flu-like illness, feeling dead. Then along comes type 2 diabetes which explains a lot about how downright wretched i have been feeling and had lumped into my lyme worries. oh, and there was the babesiosis that came in the same tick, topped off with hereditary psoriatic arthritis which brings pain and deep stiffness, just no swelling.i know. poor me. but hey, there are lots of poor me's out there, and that's why i am writing this, as the maitake is supposed to help the body regulate insulin, and its also reportedly good to correct problems with our immune system. There are no instant cures out there. no, i take that back. the VERY day i took the solary maitake [ordered from amazon, of course] I noticed a difference. Energy, internal strength, clarity of mind and increased motivation, VERY improved reduction of sensitivity to such things as cigarette smoke and petrochemicals, and even reduction of pain [which moves around a lot in your body if you have lyme...]. Honest. I swear! I feel well. Yes, well.... for the first time in a dozen years. I was so sick I had to stop working, and I loved what I did. Basically I was just waiting around in constant pain running the gambit from terrible to unbearable. And..now...i feed GOOD! Practically immediately! [now isn't THAT the american dream of instant gratification?]You can't believe how happy i am about this!I'm on my second bottle of maitake, and with carefully watching my diet, and getting exercise, i hope when i go to the doctor, my glucose reading is much improved [i got the news of having diabetes in the mail, and haven't been in to see my doctor yet... i live on a limited budget, so wanted to see what i could do to improve my blood sugar levels before entering into the medical profession's black hole of 'tests' and 'medicines'....]Drawback? Yes, there IS one, and it has to do with, shall we say the solidifying effects of mushroom powder on material in the large intestine? I wouldn't call it constipation, I guess i'd coin the phrase ... agglutination? so drink lots of fluids, and pick up a fleet enema just in case. Sorry to be so graphic, but the benefits are SO worth this 'side effect'.PS The bottle says you can take up to three capsules twice daily, I think two twice a day is more than enough for good results.GOOD LUCK and good health.

Best overall value for Reishi
First some insight as to how I started taking Reishi Mushroom as a supplement: About 5 years ago I was incessantly sick and always seemed to be coming down with something, and a co-worker of mine suggested Reishi mushroom as a supplement to boost immunity. At the time, I was a skeptic when it came to supplements, called him a witch doctor, but then decided to give it a chance regardless since I did NOT want to get sick again, and I already had the looming sore throat and swollen lymph glands. Anyway, I'm glad I gave his suggestion a try, because the next day I woke up feeling refreshed, and not a sign of illness.Since then I take Reishi religiously, and I have had two colds in the last 5 years. I've gone from the most susceptible I know to illnesses to the least likely to pick up a bug, so if you want to know about Reishi in general, I highly suggest starting a regiment of it. Just be prepared for some....umm..."gastro disturbances" the first few days since it's extremely high in insoluble fiber.Anyway, on to this specific product: Seeing as I take Reishi regularly, I'm always worried about cost and quality of a product. There was a brand that I preferred to Solaray for a while that contained a higher concentration of polyscaccharides and was of similar cost, but their brand has inflated to nearly three times the price of this one, and I could easily double up my dosage of Solaray to account for the difference. At that time, Solaray became my "go-to" brand for Reishi, and that's been for about two years or so now. They remain a consistent price leader, but still deliver a quality product. So if you're looking for the right combination of quality and price, I don't see Solaray being beat.

Solaray Lion’s Mane
Taking this supplement is a personal decision. For me , I feel it helps me to focus much better, and stay on track and accomplish and finish what I started. I’ve been taking this supplement for 3 or more years, originally purchasing it from “ Natures Goodness” and then finding it at a lower price on Amazon. I started by purchasing 1 from Amazon and took it into NG to make sure it was exactly the same including the manufacturer. She confirmed that it was and said she wished she could match the price, but unfortunately could not. I felt bad not being able to continue with them, they are a small business and I understand. They were very helpful and honest.

Small Quantity
I really like the mushroom powder but the jar is less than half full at 2.14 ounces. This alone would cause me to find another product.
