A chance purchase
I bought this by chance as it was advertised as an Amazon printing, which I was unsure about. What tempted me to buy was the original cover illustration being used. The book turned out to be fine. Good quality paper, slightly larger than the standard size of books but most of all did not change / remove / adjust the text in any way. Worth the risk.

Classic American Literature
📚Book Review📚The Great Gatsby showcases the old money world of America, 100 years ago in the glittering 1920’s and the twisted relationships that existed there. With the exception of the narrator, the characters are shallow and duplicitous; caring only for monetary wealth and social standing. Even Jay Gatsby, who I ended up feeling so sorry for, is forever chasing the American dream and desperately wants to be accepted as part of this empty world. What saddens me most, is that in 100 years of change, modern society hasn’t really changed that much from what is presented here. Happiness is hollow, egotistical, misogynistic and driven by status. Notice a pattern here? The language of the book really is beautiful and expressive. It almost reads like a play and the words used by Fitzgerald are illuminative. Listening to the audiobook was a bit like laying on a soft feather filled pillow of vocabulary. My only criticism is related to the audio version I listened to. The narrator was great but whenever he read any female dialogue, his voice sounded like something out of a Carry On film which was a bit off putting! However, this version is currently a free audiobook in Spotify so is pretty much a must.Fantastic, classic, expressive, thought provoking, sad.

Bigger than standard paperbacks, pixelated cover
This review is of the physical book, rather than the actual story, which we all know and love. The "1925 edition", printed by Amazon, is sadly let down by the fact that it is bigger than standard paperbacks (attached is a picture comparing it with a standard paperback book). This makes it look childish and as more words fit on each page, it makes the book very thin - I'm aware that Gatsby is a short book and all the paperback editions are thin, but this is thinner than most, contributing to its childish feel. This would be fine if it was a childish book, but it isn't! But the biggest reason this edition is such a disappointment is the fact that the printing on the front and back cover plus the book spine are very pixelated. The front cover almost gets away with it - it looks more blurry than pixelated but the mouth and text give it away, but the back cover just has text and so the pixelation is very, very noticeable. The worst offender is the spine of the book. It's just blue but "The Great Gatsby" is unbelievably pixelated. It's obvious, once you notice you can't unnotice it and since the spine is the most public part of the book (it's the bit you'll see once it starts living in your bookshelf), it beggars belief that they let it happen.I must say that the actual text inside the books isn't pixelated and so the book is readable, which is the only reason why I'm keeping it for now, but I'm positive I'll replace it for a higher quality edition down the line, unless I can be bothered to rebind it.

Cheap quality
The print quality is very amateur, feels like it has been printed and bound with domestic quality a printer and materials. I cant read the book it feels so cheap, i would like to return it.

Overrated
The Great Gatsby is F. Scott Fitzgerald's brilliant fable of the hedonistic excess and tragic reality of 1920s America.Young, handsome and fabulously rich, Jay Gatsby is the bright star of the Jazz Age, but as writer Nick Carraway is drawn into the decadent orbit of his Long Island mansion, where the party never seems to end, he finds himself faced by the mystery of Gatsby's origins and desires.Beneath the shimmering surface of his life, Gatsby is hiding a secret: a silent longing that can never be fulfilled. And soon, this destructive obsession will force his world to unravel.---Until this year I had never read this book. It felt like one I should read as its seen as such a classic. I came to the conclusion that this is NOT a book for me. It is too slow, too ponderous, not engrossing enough. I can fully appreciate it how well written it is and the commentary on 1920's America. The main takeaway I had was that despite all his wealth and people surrounding him in his life he was still alone in death.

Shouldn't be Banned
This needs to be read by everyone. It is a good, stark, reality that is good criticisms on the shallowness of the rich upper class who constantly seems to be looking down their noses at everyone, particularly those of diverse backgrounds. Some of the language inside is outdated, but it still needs be read.
