I think you will find the large size will be comfortable. They are well made and once stretched out before putting on (which is only necessary if you have difficulty bending down) they will fit well.

Are these padded front and back for leaks

Yes they are but we find that my husband who has dementia is still very wet in the morning and also the bed. I think they would be OK for leaks. They are very soft and better than others we have tried.
