And, I've read many of the reviews of these and was rather entertained by the vividly succinct feelings about dark chocolate. It seems that it's nearly a religious experience for some. Wow. I had no idea.Anyway, I have usually always bought these at one of the many grocers I frequent (and I include Target and Walmart in that generalized statement, even though that's only partially correct to think of those as "grocers"). But I noticed the price has been pretty high at some of these places, especially the "real" grocery stores. So I thought, "what the heck... get it from Amazon!". And, I'm happy that I did, simply because with these 12 bar packs I won't have to scrounge the stores for "the slightly cheaper pricing".So, my general comments. First of all, I usually prefer the 90% Lindt bars because though they are somewhat bitter, they take longer to melt in your mouth, so it makes the experience more heavenly. Now some people don't like that much bitterness and I saw a number of folks be unhappy about that. My experience is if you are really trying hard to avoid ALL SUGARS, or as much as possible, by not drinking soda, juice, cool-aid and/or eating sweet candy bars, etc. that your tongue gets REALLY sensitive to LACK of sugar, and then, then you are ready for the experience of Lindt 90%. (my dietary efforts are to approach living with the "Caveman" or Paleo, diet, as much as possible. Yes, ANY dark chocolate is NOT on the "approved list" for Paleo. It however is my one and only exception, and makes BEING on Paleo MUCH more tolerable. (a man has GOT to have at least ONE vice, right?)Anyway, back to Ghiradelli dark chocolate in particular. (wow... I am long winded) Anyway, it is creamier than Lindt 85% and, of course, 90%. It also melts faster, but because it does so, the flavor is outstanding! I really do love it. (but I alternate with the Lindt, "just because" of loyalty to the fact that their chocolate melts more slowly and they also have the 90% too.)

As a big fan of very dark chocolate, I am always on the lookout for good quality but also good value. This 86% cacao from Ghirardelli fits the bill quite solidly. It is dark and fairly bitter, although with just enough sweetness to keep it manageable. A square or two nicely satisfy my dark chocolate cravings. My one critique would be that the texture can seem slightly dry, although storage at room temperature seems to let it soften subtly, just enough to smooth out the texture. Great chocolate, decent value, and it's kosher for those that care. The 6-bar pack came as a sealed bag with 6 individual bars.

This is my 2nd purchase of Ghirardellie Dark Chocolate 86% and I have to say, I may become a regular buyer for several reasons:1.) It is, as many reviewers have pointed out, a very silky, smooth, yet bold dark chocolate that is very enjoyable just nibbling on. The complexity of taste is right up there with red wine.2.) The packaging from Amazon was top notch. It came in an insulated box with cool packs underneath. Very impressive.3.) It is, again, as many reviewers have pointed out, very healthy for you. Beats the "sugar free" (but made with Splenda) treats that my doc says I should prefer due to type 2 diabetes (Yuck!). Everything in moderation, of course. I am impressed by the low amount of sugar - 10 g for a whole bar. Soda is something like 35 g.Thanks, to all the reviewers who have provided insightful information about this product, it's benefits and how it compares to the competition. I really learned a lot. Now go enjoy some awesome dark chocolate.

I would buy in person somewhere. The delivery crushed the bars, they were all in bits and pieces. The chocolate, itself, is great. Not too sweet nor bland, has a slight fruity taste underlying the chocolate.
