Cute and Sturdy - but not as easy as it looks
I got this little shelf to use for purely utilitarian purposes, as I needed a small shelf for a tiny spot. I have assembled so many of these types of shelves over the years that I had no doubt this would be a "piece of cake." It was very well packaged and easy to unpack. However, none of the pieces had any type of label so I tried to look at the pictures and figure out what was what. This didn't seem too difficult initially, but I did have to get my magnifying glass out and study the pictures. At one point my husband started trying to help, but that quickly fell apart as he was frustrated by the pictures as well, thought the holes were drilled in the wrong places, and was quickly undoing what little progress I had made thus far. I finally told him to go away and I would figure it out (and I did!)Initially, I misinterpreted the three small "support" pieces as pieces that support the shelves - but could not get that to line up with the holes. I probably spent an hour trying to make the pictures in the instructions make sense to me, but I finally had to put them down. I actually had to walk away and come back after an hour or so and try again. This seemed to do the trick. When I came back I looked up the shelf on Amazon as I seemed to remember prior to buying it some talk about assembly. That did the trick! One person referenced the holes in the shelves, and for the first time I realized the shelves were not all the same. Two had 4 holes on each side and two had 2 holes on each side! Progress! Now, the frustrating thing is, if these parts had been marked with at least a sticker, this could have saved a LOT of frustration. The pictures had the two parts labeled "back left" and "back right" to start with. These two boards were confusing to figure out which was which. OMG, people, just a tiny little sticker saying BL and BR would help! Then labels on the shelves showing there are two different configurations on them. Anyway - after studying a few reviews (some of which made it worse as they were commenting how clear the instructions were!) and looking at my parts even closer, everything clicked for me! The top and bottom shelves have 4 holes - the middle two have 2 holes. The supports will be at the back of and ABOVE the shelves, not below them - as the "support" reference apparently means it supports the structure, not the individual shelves. This is why these reviews and pictures are so important, as it helped a lot in sifting out how the finished product was supposed to look.Once I had figured it all out and got it together, it is a surprisingly sturdy little shelf that is the perfect size for a small space. It is taller than I expected, but I appreciate that about it.Moral of the story is - study the reviews first next time! Also, these parts REALLY need to be labeled - that would make a world of difference. My husband was suitably impressed that I got this done, as he was about ready to throw the baby out with the bath water! I hope this review helps someone else who is as stumped as I was initially.

Great for small spot
I must say this was a bit confusing at first to put together. Once I figured out the picture, it was a breeze. Maybe took me 30 min by myself. I am a 71 yr old women. It is really sturdy, and it fit in my 8-inch spot. It came packaged well. Lots of screws though. They don't give you a screwdriver though. You will need a phillips head. It is nice as you can put the shelves in different place. I would suggest you decide that before you put it together. Maybe that is why it took me 30 min. I couldn't decide where I wanted the top shelf. Good heavens, for the price I would buy another one, if I could think of another place I could put it.

Sturdy but the height adjustability is horrible
So getting the good out of the way. This is a nice sturdy shelf and almost perfectly fit my needs. Width and height it was absolutely perfect. The ease of putting together left a bit to be desired but I was able to assemble it on my own.The only major problem with assembly is that none of the pieces have stickers and the assembly instructions I got are for the bigger unit. However it assembles the same way so that wasn't a problem. The stickers almost were though as I almost put the wrong shelf pieces I'm the wrong spots. Now for my reason why the shelf lost a star. The adjustability of the shelves is AWFUL. I bought this to put my gaming guides and artbooks on. Books that are usually quite tall and putting the shelves on evenly they were about a half inch too short to put these tall books on. Unfortunately the only way I could make the books fit was to either remove the top shelf entirely and lose a shelf or do what I did... which is move the two bottom shelves down. This resulted in a tiny tiny space that I am going to be putting switch games on and a shelf that is tall enough to fit the books but leaves a sold 5 inches of empty space above the books. The shelves also screw in instead of being placed on pegs so it is NOT easy to adjust the shelves. You practically have to take the whole thing apart.Bit that small shelf at the bottom of the picture? That how big of a gap is between each shelf height. Small for a shelf... but pretty big for the adjustment gap on shelves.I would have MUCH preferred if the shelf adjustment was more in the realm of 3 inches apart than the almost 6 inches.I can't even put the covers on the holes because I need the ability to remove the top shelf or moves the shelves in the future. So while the size of this is perfect for a small space and perfect for if you want a shelf to display a small collection of something. The actual spacing of the shelves is awful and leaves a ton of wasted space if you need to put anything on the shelves that exceeds a height of 10.5 inches.Also. I got the shelf on sale for $22 and would NOT spend any more than that on it. It's a nice looking shelf, but for what it is it is not worth more than like $25.

Love these shelves for books
I bought one, really liked it, and bought another. About 30 minute set up time. It fits hardcover books laying down perfectly which is really hype.I would be a little worried about it being bumped into and tipping over. I don't have kids or dogs so it's fine for me, but still something to consider. *that is a cat toy in picture*There's no labels on the pieces so it was a little hard to distinguish the two sides but as you do step one, you'll easily figure out which one is which because only one works for the diagram. Kind of nice not having to pick off the label stickers and clean sticky residue. You can change the height of the shelves but it would be a little bit of work. If you think you'll do that frequently, a different shelf may be better.Overall a really nice looking, cheap, easy to put together shelves.

Nice little bookcase for small space.
We used the kitchen table to put this bookcase together. We identified all the pieces and was easy to assemble. Looks great and is sturdy.
